Many ancient tribes had existed for many years. Much longer than most Mobians. One of these was the ancient race of Owls. The Owls were a peaceful tribe and devoted their lives to protecting the sacred seven Chaos Emeralds from those who would use their power for evil. Over time many, many wars would dwindle the numbers of the Owls and now only a small pocket remained. Longclaw, one of the most respected members of the little community, was at work pulling nets from the nearby river.

"You got it, Talon?"

"Yes ma'am!" Talon called across the river.

Longclaw fluttered her wings and pulled the net across the river catching whatever was within.

"Seems like a big haul tonight?"

"Oh yes very. I haven't felt such strain in quite some time. Come now let's get this to the shore and see what we got."

Longclaw and Talon flew the heavy net out of the water and onto the nearby shore line. They dropped the large bundle of fish to the ground and they began to count the fish within.

"We're going to have quite the feast tonight!" Talon exclaimed. "It'll be nice to eat something other than berries!"

Longclaw chuckled; she didn't want to admit it but she couldn't help but agree. While she loved the sweet taste of freshly picked blueberries and grapes, she loved fish far more.

"OW!" yelled Talon who flung his right wing around.

"What? What happened? Are you alright?" Longclaw said as she examined his wing.

"I don't know! I was going through and then I felt something sharp stab me!"

Longclaw looked through the young owl's feathers and plucked a small blue needle out of his wing.

"What is it?"

Longclaw inspected the pile of fish and gasped.

"What? Longclaw what is it-"

Talon stopped mid-sentence once he saw what had captivated Longclaw. Within the pile of fish was a small blue hedgehog child.

"A-..Amy?"

*Six Years Later*

"Heya, the names Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog! I'm cool, blue, and the self proclaimed fastest thing alive! You could say Sonic's my name, and speed's my game! I live in a small community of owls up in the trees of Green Hill. I believe that everyone should be as free as the wind-"

Sonic's inner monologue was cut short as he ran face first into a door which swung open suddenly.

"Sonic! Are you alright? What have I told you about running around up here!"

"Ugh sorry Longclaw." Sonic said as he rubbed his head. "Guess I got caught up in my thoughts again."

"It's alright. Now come on, up on your feet, I've got something to show you!"

Sonic jumped to his feet and followed Longclaw inside her hut. Within were several piles of books and ancient scrolls. Sonic couldn't help but gaze at the mural of seven brightly colored gems with a large green gem in the middle of it all.
