XI: Dark Night

Third POV

Like a year without rain, a heavy thunderstorm plagued the area of Mount Toshiro and it's neighbors below.

A good thing too, as those living in Kirigaya, Sinon and Hisui were plagued with burning homes, food stalls and their representing flags all disintegrated.

The people of towns were left in disarray; trying to recuperate, find family and other friends, while the towns chief were attempting to be healed from their wounds or other injuries.

To say the Onis work was devastating would be an understatement. The rumors that they had spread amok about Onis showed those who never had to confront them just how dangerous those demons could be.

Speaking of the Onis...

Both Izuku and Katsuki were transported back to the Blood Pearl Palace immediately after the emperor had shown slightly more signs of consciousness.

His lack of control was a sight to behold, and had bone just the towns people worried about him.

After prying Izuku off of him, they had to muzzle their emperor with metal special imbued with abilities and held his hands with matching cuffs.

In a timely manner too, for Katsuki had small episodes where he would begin to try and lash out before being taken to a secured area in the palace for the night.

Izuku on the other hand was taken back to Shuzenji, so he could be treated for the incredibly severe burns that littered his once pale freckled skin.

Though he was passed out, the triplets certainly weren't as they kicked into action in aiding their dam.

Like a miracle, Shuzenji watched some parts of Izuku's flesh near his torso turn a vibrant shade of orange before his skin reverted to normal shade.

No burns at all.

Though, the process was timely, and there was so much work left to be done.

Izuku's body ached as Shuzenji placed on a special liquid meant to aid against formidable oni attacks.

The woman looking at her future Emperor-consort with a heavy heart.

Something like this shouldn't have happened, placing one of her frail hands onto Izuku's stomach where in incredible amount of heat surged as Izuku's eyebrows pinched together.

Whatever it was that he was feeling or experiencing had her worried.

Overall, when word had reached even the lower towns of the Onis residing in Mt. toshiro, a silent moment was given to their Emperor and Emperor-Consort's well being, hoping they'd make it out okay.

The oni folk all knew that what kept in the dark for so long would only come out when it was least expected.

Therefore,

Dark times were approaching, indeed.

And it was up to the highest of authorities to figure it out.

• • • Meanwhile • • •

Todoroki clicked his tongue, stripping out of his main attire that had been slightly scorched due to Katsuki's unforgiving flames.

"It seems everyone is in pandemonium over what has happened," Sero spoke up, hoping he'd finally garner a response from his lover.

Todoroki had been dead silent from the moment he returned, not intentionally trying to give his fiancé the cold shoulder, but that's just how it played out.

"Today was supposed to be normal," Sero continued, "Our emperor still finalizing plans and Midoriya continue to plan for his baby shower and resting up."

"Now here we are, our emperor having to be changed so he would lash out on his people and Midoriya..."

Sero narrowed his eyes watching Todoroki's fist clench at the mention of their future Emperor-Consort.

It was perhaps the day Todoroki had met Izuku did Sero sense something was off with his fiancé.

Todoroki made a great aid for the Emperor-consort, and with the way Izuku talked about Katsuki there was no way he'd reciprocate.

It was quite clear Todoroki may've had feelings for the Emperor-Consort.

Feelings that he knew would never be requited, and he never would want to be requited; for the bond Izuku and Katsuki shared was obviously a special one.

Sero knew Todoroki loved him, but that didn't deter the general of internal and external affairs from feeling worthless and wanting to do more for his friend.

It'd be best not to confront head on, is what Sero told himself, even as he watched Todoroki trudge towards their bed.

Towards him.

The split haired alpha got into bed, reaching out and holding Sero closely to his chest.

"I was the one who told Midoriya about it, and he wanted me to take him to our Emperor," Todoroki muttered, "Had I not-,"

"Had you not, the possibility of Onis losing their emperor would've increased." Sero interjected,  reaching above and stroking Todoroki's hair, "Roki, you did what you think was best and we know that by tomorrow things should look up for the two of them."

"Do not blame yourself."

Sero felt a kiss get pressed to his temple, listening to his fiancé go on,

"You're right," Todoroki sighed, "...And I apologize for the silence earlier."

"Don't be," Sero gently slapped Todoroki's chest, "Midoriya wasn't the only one worried for the person they love."

He slid further down into the blanket, looking up at Todoroki, pressing a kiss underneath the general's scar, "...Roki, I know there's a war planned, and chances are you'll be in the front lines with the other generals so could you..?"

Sero didn't need to finish, for a kiss was placed onto his lips and he was tugged closer.

A cold, but not freezing hand worked its way down his waist and tugged at his thigh.

Sero had known he was built pretty lanky in comparison to most omegas, but Todoroki didn't seem to mind it.

"Why don't we make a pup of our own, hm...?" Todoroki whispered, not really leaving any room for suggestions as he tossed Sero's hands over his shoulder.

Sero could only eye the alpha for a moment or two.

How serious and to the point he always was.

It made sense at to why both the Emperor and Emperor-Consort had such high approval for the general.

Sero couldn't help but feel a small chuckle leave his lips.

He wouldn't be surprised if he was the favorite out of all the generals.
