Author's Note: ok so I had this great idea pop into my mind for another Rise of the Guardians FanFic. So I decided that any ROTG FF I write, I'll make it a "never" book. So it'll be sort of like a series. And this will be the second never book behind Never Existing. Never Understanding has a whole different person and a whole different world from Never Existing. There is a new challenge and a new main character named Muse. Strange name, but it'll make sense as you read. Of course Jack Frost will be there. All the guardians will help out. Enjoy this story!!! :D

1. Awakening

Muse POV

The cold ocean water made shivers creep over my skin and made me feel afraid. Darkness was all around me. I was going to die, it was inevitable, but then I looked up, salt burned my eyes but I didn't care. I saw the Moon. It was so big and so bright, it seemed to chase the darkness away. I no longer felt scared. The Moon looked down at me from its heavenly place, it reached out to me, sort of like a hand, and pulled me out of the water.

He told me that my name is Muse Waters, but that's all he ever told me. I just looked up at him, but he didn't say anything more, he just dropped me back into the water. It was easy to float, extremely easy, I didn't even have to use my arms or anything. I looked around for a moment, no land in sight, only ocean that probably stretched on for miles from what I could see.

Then the water felt as though it became solid, but it didn't freeze. I placed my hands on top of this part of the ocean surface and pulled myself up. I just stood there, amazed, I was standing on water, not ice, not some glass that floats, if that even exists, no I was standing on water. I tried to keep my balance on the wobbly "surface" and huge jets of water raised from the ocean. I lowered my hands, and so did the jets.

Interesting. I looked at my pinkish hands. Then there was a light, far in the distance, a faint yell coming from the same place. I tried to push the water behind me so I could move forward. I waved my hands back and the water started to push me forward. It was like ice skating, but on water. I could feel the wind rush on my face as I sped up.

I was nearing the place. It looked like a small boat, well more like a raft. There was a small lantern on it, with a person standing up, yelling, "Is there anyone out there?"

I yelled back. "Yes! Me! Wait, I'm coming!"

The man didn't seem to pay attention. No one on the raft wearing their orange life vests could see me.

I finally got to the boat. I climbed aboard, but no one scooted out of the way. No one laid an eye on me. I looked at all the people, all consisted of women and children and then the guy with the lantern was a guy. I sat down on the opposite edge of the raft from that guy that let my bare feet float on the water.

I saw my reflection in the water. I had long light blue hair. My eyes were dark blue. I was wearing a pajama, just a simple light pink silk dress. My skin was pale under the moonlight. Nothing strange about my appearance.

I turned around and saw a little girl huddled up, crying all by herself, no one was comforting her. She was crying loudly, she really needed someone to comfort her. I got up and started to come over to the girl. I squished in to the spot next to her and as I tried to wrap my arm around her some other lady stretched out her arms to pick up the girl, her hands went right through me. Then the girl went through me. It was such a weird sensation. I wasn't even there, I was just like air.

In disappointment, I jumped off the boat and started to walk on the water again. I waved my hands and controlled the water, making them push me forward. I didn't know where I was headed, I just swept across the water.

Many dead bodies floated in the water. It was awful. Men, women, and children frozen to death floated in the water. Some in life jackets, others on boards, and what looked like furniture. I saw a woman on a board with a life jacket, her hand reaching into the water, like she just lost something, or someone. I passed by the scene quickly, trying to avoid all the bodies. What happened here?

I never really understood, but I remembered the date forever: April 15, 1912.
