Spring Formal

The day of Spring Formal is here and I'm super excited to just let go and have fun with my friends. I call the girls and ask them to come get ready at my house. The guys can meet us here for pictures. It feels good to actually have girl friends to get ready with for a dance. I didn't really have friends back home. I was a loner; the poor girl with a drug addict for a mother. It's just really nice to actually have real friends that I can share these sorts of things with. We do the last finishing touches on our hair and makeup and then wait for the guys to arrive. The first to pull up is Jace and oh my God he looks so good in a tux. The other guys pull up behind him. We all gather around the fireplace so Tracy can take pictures. She takes some of each couple and then some of us as a group. We all thank her and she promises to print them out for everyone. As we're leaving, Scott passes us by to pickup Jade. Nobody says a word to him. We'll all get into the limo and I notice that Jace can't stop looking at me. He whispers in my ear, "You are the most gorgeous woman I have ever seen in my entire life and I love you." I smile and say, "I love you too" and give him a kiss. Matthew pulls out a bottle of champagne and says, "Let's celebrate! I'm happy to be here with everyone and I'm honored to be able to call you all my closest friends." "Aww Matthew is getting all mushy," Candace says. "Shut up, I'm being serious. We're all here with no drama. We're going to have an amazing time with great friends. What more could we ask for?" We all cheers to that. "I want to celebrate the fact that you guys have taken me in and accepted me for who I am. You gave me a chance to show you who I really am. I'm grateful for every one of you." We all toast and say how much we love each other. Jace says, "Let's make a pack, right here right now. No matter what college we go to, we'll always stay in touch." We all agree. When we enter the building for the formal, beauty is everywhere. Everything is black and silver. The streamers and ballons look like they're floating. Jace grabs my hand and pulls me to the dance floor. Life feels so perfect and I'm having the best time. When the hip-hop music comes on, I pull the girls to the dance floor with me and we dance until we're exhausted. We go meet the boys who are sitting at a table. We have more drinks and try all the food. The night feels like a fairytale. The DJ announces last call and plays the last slow song of the night. We all grab our dates and go to the dance floor. Jace has his hands on my waist and holds me close. "Mila, you've made tonight the best night I have had in a very long time and I love you so much," he says. I look at him and say, "I love you too, Jace. More than you know." Then I kiss him so passionately. I've never been a big fan of PDA, but with him I just don't care. The song comes to an end and me and Jace are still kissing. Sarah walks up and says, "Okay you two, time to get a room." We both laugh and I say, "I guess it is time to go." As we're walking to the limo, John says, "It's still early. What do we do now? I'm so not ready to go home." "Yeah, let's check out Bar 54. I heard that place is great," Brandi suggests. Jace says, "They do make good martinis." "Oh, a martini sounds great right now," I say. So it's settled, Bar 54 it is. We get to the bar and all head to the front door. We're definitely over-dressed, but that's okay. "Oh no, look at this line to get in. We'll be standing here forever," I say. "Don't worry," Jace says, "I got this." He walks up to the security at the door and the man greets Jace, "Mr. Henderson, it's great to see you again," he turns to the other man behind him and says, "Hey Ivan, I need a VIP suite on the top floor." Ivan responds with, "No problem." He lets us in and escorts us to a VIP area upstairs. I look at Jace and say, "Umm how did you do that?" "Well, my dad kinda co-owns this bar. I get the best service here." "Oh well isn't that nice," I laugh. The waitress walks up to him and puts her hand on his shoulder, "Hey Jace, it's great to see you again." I playfully glare at him and say, "Yes, I can see you get the best service here." He laughs and tells the waitress, "Hey, whatever they order it all goes on my tab." "Okay great. What can I get you guys?" Jace puts his arm around me and says, "I'll take a dirty martini. My girlfriend right here says she'll have the same thing." She give him a little look then asks everyone else what they want. I laugh and say, "Well that settles that." "Girls need to know I'm not available." I kiss him and say, "That's sweet of you." The waitress come back with our drinks then says, "Jace, there's a young man and woman downstairs insisting that they are a part of your VIP party. Scott and Jade?" "No, they aren't welcome up here. I don't care if they come in the club, but they aren't allowed up here." "Yes sir, I understand." I start laughing and say, "Wow, I can't believe she actually has the balls to try and come up here." "She would try anything to be a part of this. She feels left out and she hates it." "Well, she did it to herself. If she wasn't such a bitch and made an effort to be a little nicer then I would try, but she doesn't want that. She can keep isolating herself, I don't care." Sarah walks up to me and grabs my hand to pull me to the dance floor. All the girls go to dance while the guys sit and drink while keeping an eye on us. After a handful of songs, I was hot and I needed to sit down for a minute. I find Jace and whisper in his ear, "I have a weird question." "Okay, what it is?" "Are you expecting sex tonight?" "Mila, we've had so much to drink tonight. I would never want our first time to be when we are drunk. I want our first time to be special." I kiss him and say, "You are the most amazing man ever and I would love for you to spend the night with me." "Remember, I have to sleep in the spare room." "Oh yeah, I forgot." "But my parents are out of town. You can sleep at my house and I do mean just sleep." I love this man so much. Before we know it, it's 4:00 a.m. and we all decide that it's time to go home. We drop everyone off and I tell Brandi, "If anyone asks, I am staying at your place tonight." She laughs and says, "I got your back." We head for Jace's house and I tell him, "Well I guess I'll be sleeping in one of your t-shirts tonight that you will NOT be getting back." "I'm okay with that. I would love for you to keep one of my t-shirts that way you can wear it all the time and think about me when I'm not there." I smile and say, "That's the point." We arrive at his house and go straight to his room. He asks me if I'm hungry and I tell him no and that I'm just exhausted. He goes to his closet and gets his favorite shirt and hands it to me to change into. He tells me how much more he loves the shirt now that I'm in it. I jump into the bed with him and he puts his arms around me and says, "Thank you for the best Spring Formal ever." "It was all amazing because of you," I tell him. We kiss until we fall asleep in each other arms. I wake up to the sun shining through the window. Jace looks so peaceful just laying there, so beautiful. "You staring at me is pretty creepy," Jace says. I laugh and say, "No it's not! It's romantic. I thought you were asleep." "Creepy romantic." I slap him playfully on his arm and he grabs me and starts tickling me. "No, stop cheating! You're stronger than me! You're going to make me pee myself!" He finally gets off and stops tickling me. "You butthead," I say. "Well, that's what you get for slapping me." "You're evil." "But that's why you love me. I love you for many reasons." He kisses me and I say, "and I love you for many reasons. I love your eyes and your smile. That smile that you only show me at certain moments." He asks, "What do you mean?" "You don't always smile. You do a little fake smile to other people but with me it's a genuine, beautiful smile and I love it." "I didn't know you noticed that." "I notice a lot of things." "So do I," he says. "What do you notice?" "Well, I can tell when you're in an uncomfortable situation. I also notice that when you're nervous, you bite your bottom lip." "You really do notice stuff." "We both notice stuff because we love each other. Our love is rare." "Rare? How so?" "We had a connection the very first time we saw each other. We felt something special between us from the first moment. We both just knew there was something there before we even got to really know each other. We trusted each other before anything. We fell in love slowly and fast at the same time." I look at him and say, "You know what I love the most about you. I love that you can be so sweet and honest with me. You treat me so well that it makes me believe in happy endings. I never did until I met you." "You make me believe in true love. I didn't think it existed until I met you and that's what I love most about you. You make me believe in true love, so thank you for that." I get a text from Sarah saying that she's still coming over to study for the LSAT test. I completely forgot amount the entrance exam. I tell Jace and he says, "Let's get everyone together for a big study group." "Let's do it."
