My heart almost exploded when the news came out that we could finally start going out places, of course, masks were required which I would've done anyway, and there was a limit on how many people could be in stores, but at least it was everywhere. Plus the NHL was coming back soon which was also very exciting. Jamie and I found a patio restaurant that we wanted to check out as one of the first things we got to do outside of lockdown. We found a place called Patio BBQ.

"Hey guys, just for the two of you?" The host asked.

"Yeah, we've got a reservation under Jamie." Jamie said.

"Yep, right here, follow me." She said smiling at him. She took us to the patio, where we sat at a red picnic table. She handed us our menus and left pretty quickly. Soon enough a waitress named Roxanne came over and got our drink order.

"So what are you going to get?" Jamie asked me.

"I don't know, I think the pulled pork sandwich sounds good. What are you thinking?" I asked.

"The chicken souvlaki looks really good." He stated.

"Oh yeah, it really does." I agreed. We sat in silence as we pondering what meal we were going to get.

"Alright here are the two pops, and do you guys know what you're having to eat?" Roxanne asked us.

"I think so." I said while Jamie and I looked at each other and then over at her.

"Alright, what can I get for you, handsome?" She asked turning to look at Jamie.

"Sorry, actually, it's ladies first." He said, looking over to me. Roxanne audibly sighed and turned to look at me.

"Okay, then what can I get for you?" She asked, clearly not happy about how Jamie handled the situation, but I was.

"Can I do the pulled pork sandwich?" I asked nicely.

"I guess." She said writing it down. "And for you?" She asked, her tone now sweet and kind.

"I'll do the chicken souvlaki please, and can I do extra olives on the salad?" He asked, smiling over at me when he mentioned the olives. I love olives, and he's not a fan so he ordered them and extra for me.

"Anything for you. I'll go get those in for you." She responded, taking the menus and walking away.

"Well, that was interesting." Jamie said, taking my hands in his from across the table.

"It was something that's for sure." I said. I knew my voice was weak. After the interaction with her, I was definitely feeling a little more insecure. It reminded me that I am not the most beautiful girl in the world like Jamie consistently tells me. She was gorgeous. Long curly red hair, freckles covering her face, long natural eye lashes, an even face, a perfect nose. She was skinny with big boobs and a big butt. I am none of that. "I'm just going to run to the washroom." I said, letting go of Jamie's hands. I couldn't even look him in the eyes. I went inside and found the washroom, standing in front of the mirror for a moment. I put my hands on the ledge of the sink, pushing my mask down to view my whole face. I wasn't worried, there was no one else in there.

"Why can't you be like her?" I whispered to myself softly. "You're not as pretty, you're not as bold, your nose is crooked, your eyebrows are too thin." I continued. I could see my eyes watering, before they fell out I grabbed a piece of toilet paper and put it under my eyes, so when I went back to the table Jamie wouldn't be able to see that I was crying. I didn't want to spend more time in the washroom, it had already been a few minutes, so I cleaned my face up as best as I could and covered my face back up with the mask before heading back out to the table.
