Katleen~

"Dad? You here?" I called out, but as usual, there was no response

I practically live on my own nowadays, he's never at home and I lost my mum at a young age. Dad said she died on her way to buy me my favorite pack of Ramen, the carbonara ramen. I knew that was a lie, though. My mother used to partake in drugs of different kinds that probably took her out.

After getting dressed and having a very little breakfast because we are almost out of food anyway. I locked up and quickly yet quietly tried to leave home but was unsuccessful when the landlord saw me

"Miss Brook, what a fine morning it is for you to pay for the rent." Mrs Scott grinned sarcastically

A sigh. "Good morning, Mrs Scott. My father should be returning home with the money soon, I'll be sure to tell him to pay when he gets back." I smiled at her even though I really didn't want

Generally, I'm a nice person, but this woman somehow manages to show me emotions that I never knew I had

"Oh, when your father comes back." She laughed. "Sweetheart, face it, your dad is not returning. So please, pay the rent, or I kick you out." I smiled, then walked away

Maybe she's right. Maybe he isn't coming home. This really sucks. I started my walk to school, the only place where I still feel like I can be normal. On the walk, I started thinking a whole lot of stuff. If my mother really wanted me, would she have stopped with drugs and tried to get better.. for me? Would she still be the source of my father's happiness because it's definitely not me. I should also get a job, how else am I going to pay for rent?

I finally arrived at school and was greeted by my best friend in the whole wide world, we practically grew up together. I've known her since I was seven. She was actually my neighbor for 10 years before they decided to move but I still went to see her and she used to come see me but I told her not to anymore. I don't want her to see this embarrassing state I'm in.

"Katleeeeeen!" She shouted, always dragging my name

"Evelyyyyn!" I ran for a bit hug

"You look so cute, I love the white scrunchy in your hair. It suits you." She smiled and tapped my hair

"Oh, thank you, darling." I dramatically flipped my lower pony

We both laughed and made our way to class. I took my seat, which was the 6th seat on the right by the window. I prefer to sit at the back, all the smart and talkative people sit on the other side of the class and in the front, Evelyn sits on the 5th seat in front of me, which is great for when I need to lean forward and talk to her.

"So when are you coming over again? It's been a while." Evelyn turned to me with a smile on her face

She never actually sits forward. It's always sidewards so I can see her cute face. She has soft cheeks and round plumped shaped pink lips and sparkling hazel eyes, wavy short brown hair with two clips on it. She turned back to me and smiled

"Girl, you looking at me like you in love." She giggled

"How can I not? My best friend is absolutely gorgeous." I winked at her

"Oo girl, you for real? You tryna make me marry you." She tucked her hair behind her ear

I just laughed. The classes started filling up, and my teacher walked in. Seems like everyone is here except, yes, he's not here!

"Mr Desmond, you are late to my class once again." My teacher spoke

I turned my head to the front of the class to see him standing right there. I spoke too soon. He smugly brushed off what the teacher was staying with a lame ass sorry before making his way to his seat. Out of all the seats in this class, he just so happens to sit behind me. He walked past and brushed his fingers along my arm before sitting down
