Summertime Madness

"Come on Muni!" Rinku chimed as she pulled Muni's small delicate hand. The beach was just up ahead, she can hear some of the crashing waves now, and smell the sea salty air as it filled her nostrils. When was the last time I went to the beach with Rinku? It seemed like it was just a distant memory that we had as kids. As they approach the ocean, Rinku takes off her tank top and shorts to reveal her bikini.

Muni begins to blush, and averts her eyes to the sand. How can she be so careless? I mean we're at a beach but still, she just takes it off like no one's watching. Like I couldn't be watching... Muni suddenly snaps out of her trance when she notices Rinku tap her shoulder. "Let's go Muni! We haven't done this since we were kids, it's just like old times."

She's right. How come we haven't done this before? Being so busy with the Happy Around puts a halt on our relationship sometimes. Our relationship? What relationship do I want to have with Rinku?

Before Muni can even finish that thought she replies "Yeah of course! Let's go!" Before Muni could even begin to take off the rest of her clothes, she ran into the ocean and splashed all around while running into it. All Muni could do was smile and admire the blond that had eyes full of life.

She spun around and around in circles and said "Happy Around!" It was like the world slowed down, time coming to a halt and the sun shined brighter and the ocean looked more blue. She looked so beautiful. Muni always knew she respected and loved their friendship but when Rinku left for Africa, a part of Muni's heart went with her.

Deep down, in this very moment, staring at Rinku from a distance being so carefree and radiant, that's when she realized that she just might be in love with her best friend. Muni tried to shake the thoughts, as she ran towards Rinku and splashed water at her. As the seagulls fly around and other people went about their business, to Muni it felt like they were the only two in the world.

"Omg Muni you're gonna drown me!" as she laughed, Muni couldn't help but laugh too. That smile, that pure laugh. I don't think I can get enough. "Seems like you're going to do that first."Before they knew it, they were both tired and decided to just relax on the sand. As they chatted and laughed along, time had suddenly passed and it was beginning to get dark out.

"We should start heading back Rinku. " "Awww it was starting to look so beautiful out. But you're right , I have to get back" As they start to head home, Muni begins to wonder something. A beach day is nice but is that all that was? When this happens usually she announces something big. As Muni's mind goes a thousand miles per hour, she finally decides to stop walking and just come out with it.

"Wait Rinku! Why the sudden beach day? You usually do this when something important is happening. What's up?" Rinku stops in her tracks and doesn't turn around. Muni is clenching her hands and heart beating faster as the anxiety begins to pool in her stomach, wondering what she would say.

Rinku finally decides to turn around and says "I have to go back to Africa for another research project my parents are doing. " What? Almost sounded like she-

"It won't be for long! Just for a while, my parents haven't really told me but that's the reason why I wanted just the two of us to go to the beach. " Muni's heart sank and a piercing sharp pain started to course through her chest.

She was so confused, and so angry at her. "Why? Why are you leaving me again? I thought we..." Tears started to flow down Muni's cheeks as she couldn't stop them from pouring down. Rinku moves closer to her, wiping her tears and kissing her forehead. Muni couldn't help but blush and look up at her. Rinku smiled, and said "I love you Muni, I will be back for you." Rinku backs up and turns around to continue walking to her house. All the girl could do was cry because she also loved her too.
