It was 5 am, anger consumed Tommy, clouding his judgment, but he didn't care. Before he knew it, he stood in front of the house he used to watch.
A house that once drove him mad because of a woman who pissed him off.
Now, he stood there because the woman he loved was inside, spending the night with her ex-fiancé. A woman who he loved...
His fists met a wooden door, banging until it swung open.
"What the fu-"
"Where is she?" Tommy screamed, ignoring Johnny's surprise. He was ready to punch him, again and again until he couldn't say anything. Until he laid in a puddle of his own blood.
"Calm down," Johnny sighed, pushing his hands in front of him, gesturing for him to ease. But Tommy's anger only intensified. He shoved him aside with his fists and stormed inside, looking around frantically, his breath drowning out everything else.
A hand grabbed his elbow, pulling him back unexpectedly. Turning around, he punched Johnny in the face, watching blood run down his nose.
"Fuck, mate" Johnny mumbled, applying pressure to his nose and tilting his head in an attempt to stop the bleeding. "We should talk," he continued, sniffing as the blood continued to drip.
"Why would I want to talk to you?" Tommy snapped, clenching his fist, ready to throw another punch.
"Don't you trust her?" Johnny asked, surprising Tommy with his intriguing question.
Scoffing, he turned his gaze towards the ceiling. Trust her? He did trust her, until she ran here after one argument.
"Look, she doesn't love me. She chose you. You're the reason she's here tonight" Johnny uttered in a calming voice, watching Tommy's anger soften. With a sigh, Tommy nodded and followed Johnny to a small kitchen that he had shared with Anna, well, Autumn before.
"Tea?" Johnny asked, raising an eyebrow as Tommy settled into a chair, his leg shaking with impatience and frustration. Why would he want to drink tea with this fucker?
Johnny shrugged at the lack of reply, pouring a glass of water for himself before sitting down across from Tommy.
"Autumn told me about your sypmtoms" Johnny began, causing Tommy to choke on his own breath, surprise taking over his features as he stared at the man in front of him with his mouth agape. His symptoms answered as if Johnny had called them, his heart skipping a beat and his chest tightening with a familiar pain.
"What are you talking about?" he straightened in his seat, forcing his surprise away, but his blue eyes betrayed him, vulnerability reflecting in his gaze.
"She came to me to ask what's wrong with you," Johnny laughed sarcastically, realizing how stupid and crazy that actually was. It was absurd that he was willing to help a man who took his fiancée from him.
"Foolish thing to do" Tommy mumbled, closing his eyes, hoping to disappear from the piercing green eyes of Johnny. He understood why Anna liked him; he seemed strong, smart, and caring. Why else would he still be talking to a gangster who stole his future wife and punched him in the face?
"Look, I don't like you... and I never will," Johnny cleared his throat, "but Autumn does for some reason, and as much as I try to hate her, I just can't," he admitted, blinking to fight off tears that welled in his green eyes. "I'm pretty sure you know what's wrong with you," he continued in a low voice.
"I do," Tommy admitted, not knowing why.
"I thought so, what is it?" Johnny pursed his lips, waiting for an answer.
