Yes, Hiccup was no longer human. He was bitten by a wolf shifter who has secretly lived on berk for a while and turned him into a wolf shifter.

Hiccup sighed "Yes, I'm not going to kill a monstrous nightmare after taming a night fury" Hiccup said as he pet toothless. "I'm coming with you." Krystel said very sternly. "R-really." Hiccup said. "Yes! We can get out of here! We can runaway together and start a pack all our own." Krystel said.
