The sun was shining on Camp Wawanakwa, the island where the popular reality TV show Total Drama Island was taking place. A group of teenagers from all walks of life had been brought together to compete for a cash prize. One of these contestants was a shy bookworm by the name of Embrey who could usually be found with her nose buried in a book, escaping into different worlds. She had never been one for drama, but little did she know, she was about to become a main character in her very own love story.

A male voice said, "Everyone, welcome Embrey" prompting Embrey to look up, realizing that she had arrived at the island. After getting up from her seat, Embrey made her way off the boat and said, "Hello Chris." She glanced at all the contestants as Chris helped her down, she decided to stand by a goth girl and returned to reading her book immediately.

She was not one for big crowds or socializing, but she was determined to win the cash prize and use it to buy more books.

As the rest of the contestants arrived on the island, Embrey couldn't help but notice a certain boy. He had messy brown hair and a mischievous twinkle in his blue eyes. He seemed to have an air of confidence that intrigued her and she couldn't help but steal glances at him while trying to remain unnoticed.

"Hey there, what's your name? I'm Cody," the boy said, interrupting Embrey's thoughts.

"I-I'm Embrey," she stuttered, feeling a bit flustered by his sudden attention.

"Well, I hope we get to know each other more throughout this competition. I already have a feeling you and I are going to become great friends," Cody said with a wink before walking off to greet the other contestants.

Embrey's eyes followed Cody before Chris grabbed her attention.

"First things first, we need a group photo for the promos, everyone on the end of the dock."
Slowly, Embrey followed the other contestants towards the end of the dock, where she stuck close to the goth girl, whose name was Gwen. She awkwardly smiled as Chris hopped onto the boat.

"One, two, three.." a snap sound was heard, "forgot the lens cap," he put the lens cap on. "Okay, hold that pose. One, tw– Oh no, wait, cards full. Hang On."

"Come on, man, my face is starting to freeze." Embrey could not help but agree with Leshawna. She was eager to get this photo over with so she could return to her book.

"Got it. Okay, everyone say "Wawanakwa!'' Chris said.

"Wawanakwa!" All twenty-two contestants say, before suddenly, the dock collapses.
As Embrey began to fall, she let out a small shriek. A quick arm raise prevented the book from falling into the water.

"Okay, guys, dry off and meet at the campfire pit in ten." Chris says to all the campers.
In her thoughts, Embrey imagined that her book could have been ruined through this mishap. As a hand reached out to her, she looked up and saw Gwen offering her a helping hand.

"Thanks," Embrey replied as she grabbed her hand and pulled herself up out of the water. Looking down at her book, she made sure that there was no water damage to it. "No problem," Gwen replied. "Hope your book wasn't damaged," Gwen said, as both of them slowly made their way out of the water together.

A smile spread across Embrey's face as she lifted up the perfectly dry book in her hand and said, "Doesn't seem like it."

After drying off, all of the campers reached the campfire pit, before Embrey could sit down next to Gwen, a voice asked, causing Embrey to flinch as she looked over and saw Cody standing beside her. "N-no." Embrey stuttered as she still wasn't used to speaking with boys.
