Kenma was born premature, and his mother died giving birth to him, so his father was the sole caregiver, Kenma was his father's whole world.

Kenma lived in an incubator in the hospital for a total of 12 weeks. Kenma's father would never leave Kenma's side even for a second.

The doctors determined that Kenma would likely have asthma as he grew up, Kenma's father understood and promised to do anything to keep Kenma safe and healthy.

So Kenma grew up being protected by his father, his father being a bit too overprotective. However, he was only doing it for a good reason, to keep his son safe and alive.

When Kenma met Kuroo, his father was very concerned, but Kenma didn't really have many other friends since he was such an indoorsy and shy introverted kid.

Kuroo brought Kenma out of his shell. Kuroo introduced Kenma to volleyball, and of course, Kenma's father was worried about Kenma's asthma acting up, but up until this time, Kenma hasn't had any issues.

So his father decided to allow Kenma to join volleyball, knowing that it seemed to make Kenma less shy, and Kenma was making friends.

Kenma always had his asthma inhaler with him in case of emergencies. But he never ever had any issues. He played volleyball through middle school and then his first year of high school with his best friend Kuroo.

Kenma never had any attacks.

However, Kenma's second year came around, and he met Hinata. Kenma finally had some new found motivation and competitive interest to beat Hinata in a match.

So after the Spring High Preliminaries where they had won against all their opponents. However, Karasuno had lost, and they wanted the infamous garbage dump showdown to happen again.

So when the annual training camp came around, the coaches agreed to let Karasuno join. Kenma was excited to play against Hinata and beat him, actually beat him in a real match one day.

Kenma was busy studying and playing his video games, along with practising his volleyball skills. He was taking on too much work, and he was getting slightly overwhelmed.

However, he powered through, wanting to pass his exams and then get ready for the training camp. Kenma was over-exerting himself.

He's never had issues with his asthma, other than some small attacks while he was at home, usually when his throat was dry after not drinking enough water while playing games.

He's never had any attacks during practice or at school. So he never thought he had to worry. He thought he would always be okay.

Oh boy! Was he so wrong.

The training camp finally came around, Kenma's excitement was shattered when he saw that Hinata wasn't there.

" Where is Hinata? "

Kenma asked sadly.

" He has to take make-up exams, he didn't pass. "

Daichi explained. Kenma frowned, but he understood, and he knew that Hinata would be there later in the day.

So the games started, and Kenma was on his A-game.

Kenma was setting like a perfect genius. His team was winning against the team he was playing against. Kenma didn't want to take a break. He was so motivated.

Then the doors opened, and Hinata and Kageyama had arrived.

They were against Fukurodani first, then next against Nekoma.

Kenma was so excited that he was getting way too riled up. He didn't notice his chest was tightening up. He just kept on playing.

Eventually, the game ended, and they were now up against Karasuno, Kenma didn't have any water between breaks, his throat was dry, and his chest was tightening even more.

Kenma took in a deep breath, and he choked on his inhale, Kenma started to cough harshly, and his body trembled.

Kuroo looked at Kenma, noticing him coughing.

" Crap! Akashi! "

Kuroo called to Akashi, who has a spare inhaler for Kenma.

Kenma gripped his shirt, his chest constricting even more as he heaved and wheezed. His coughs became more rough as his knees buckled.

" Kenma! "

Kuroo rushed over and kneeled down, trying to rub his back soothingly to help him breathe.

" Kenma, it's okay. Calm down. "

Akashi rushed over with the backup inhaler and shook it to make sure it was full. Akashi brought the inhaler up to Kenma's mouth and pressed the pump.

Kenma breathed in the inhaler pump, but it didn't help. He kept coughing harshly, his lips turning blue as his airway was now constricted.

" Someone call an ambulance! "

Coach Ukai called an ambulance and explained the situation.

The ambulance arrived within 5 minutes of being called, and the paramedics rushed in and checked on Kenma's vitals, realising Kenma wasn't breathing.

They got him on the stretcher and started CPR while they put him into the ambulance. Kuroo and Akashi followed and got in the ambulance with their loved one.

Kenma was clinically dead, and the heart monitor wasn't beeping, just a flat line. Kenma's heart started to beat after a few more chest compressions.

When Kenma woke up, he was in a hospital room. Kuroo was sleeping in a chair, and Akashi was holding Kenma's hand.

" K-Kashi..? "

Kenma questioned.

" Kenma! Oh, I'm so glad you are okay. "

Akashi said with such relief in his voice, Kenma looked around the room.

" What happened? "

Kenma asked, his head a little fuzzy.

" Oh, you had a bad attack... you died, and then came back to life. We were so worried. "

Akashi said, Kenma frowned.

" I-I'm so sorry..."

Kenma said, tears pricking at the side of his eyes.

" I didn't mean to worry you! "

Kenma said sadly, and he felt horrible for making his lovers worry in such a way.

" It's okay... we are just so glad you are alive. "

Akashi exclaimed. Kuroo woke up and looked at his two lovers talking.

" Kenma? "

Kuroo said softly. Kenma looked at Kuroo, giving a reassuring smile.

" I'm okay, Kuroo. "

Kuroo stood up and went over to his lovers, holding both their hands.

" Don't you dare worry us like that again stupid. "

Kuroo said, sounding concerned and yet sincere.
