"rock, paper, scissors. winner picks where we get lunch." kaitlyn rolled over to face walker. her hair was still drying from the ocean, and there was sand all over the left side of her face, which walker reached over and brushed off. his skin tingled where he'd touched her, reminding him of their almost-kiss during cookie making. he shook it off. that was just a weird, one time thing. she probably didn't remember anyways.

"deal." he said. "rock, paper, scissors, shoot." walker held up a finger gun. kaitlyn wiggled her fingers around in a blobby sort of way.

"gun wins." walker looked pleased with himself.

"no, i have a sun. sun melts gun. i win!" walker stuck his tongue out at her, and she stuck hers out back, mocking him. "we're eating sushi."

"blech. fine. but then we're watching star wars." she rolled her eyes, got up and brushed the sand off of herself, and started to pack up the beach bag. she rubbed at her burnt nose. they'd gone to the beach as soon as filming wrapped for the day and had stayed there for four hours already. "i was thinking we watch some reality tv today? pleaseeee?"

"ugh. we can watch two episodes, AFTER we watch star wars, and then we have to keep watching the flash. also, you have to buy us  crumbl."

"deal. but i'm getting extra chocolate chip ones." she started walking towards the car. walker scrunched up his nose. "we were going to already."

"i'm getting your extra chocolate chip ones." she called over her shoulder, breaking into a jog.

"uh-uh! kaitlyn! NO!" he ran after her, hearing her laugh float behind her.

kaitlyn and walker had been hanging out basically every single day, and one might think they would get sick of each other at some point, but they didn't. there was always something new to watch or some food one of them hadn't tried or something to make or do together, and honestly, it was better with just the two of them than with the whole cast. in a big group, they could only be loud, but when they were together, they could sometimes fall into a calm, comfortable silence without needing to say a thing. these silences usually led to falling asleep, but still, that's just the way it was. they just got each other.
