"Did I tell you this last night?" said Sparsh when they had returned to their room after breakfast.
"What are you talking about?" asked Ragini.
Sparsh pulled her by her slender waist and whispered, "That I love you!"
Ragini's eyes drooped down and a rosy tint appeared on her cheeks. Sparsh lifted her chin up and planted a kiss on her forehead.
"Won't you say it back?" said Sparsh.
Ragini hugged him and whispered in his ear, "I love you too!"
Sparsh was ecstatic to get to listen to those words from Ragini. His eyes were moist and they shone brightly. Ragini held his face in her hands and gently caressed his cheeks while they both looked into each other's eyes.
"Are you crying? Why?" asked Ragini with a smile on her face. She knew the reason behind Sparsh's teary eyes, but still wanted to listen to it from his own lips.
"Because I'm happy. I'm over the moon. You just said that you loved me. You really love me, right?"
Ragini nodded and said, "I love you. You made me fall in love with you. I love you, dear husband! Do you want me to repeat it more?" And they hugged each other tightly, as if they didn't want to let go of each other.
Weeks passed and their love grew manifold with frequent make out sessions and daily hugs and kisses. They got to know each other better and were still learning new facts and information.
It was a Sunday afternoon and everybody was home. The women were preparing the lunch while the men's eyes were fixed to the TV screen.
"These men forget to even breathe during these cricket matches. Just look at them, they're glued to the sofa," said Ma to Ragini in the kitchen.
"Ma, this is what you also do when you watch your daily soaps," teased Ragini and the duo laughed.
The entire family had their lunch in the living room while watching the India-Pakistan match. Ragini had always been a cricket lover but Ma herself enjoyed watching the game. They were all stuck with their seats even after their meal when the door bell rang.
Ragini answered the door and was amazed to see the person at the door. She was pulled into a tight hug while the family wondered who it was.
"Ragini, who's that?" asked Ma from inside the house.
Along with Ragini entered a woman who was of similar age to her. Sid's face showed signs of recognition while the others seemed unaware.
"Namaste uncle, namaste aunty! I'm Sushmita, Ragini's college friend. I hope you don't mind me coming here without any prior notice. I just wanted to pay a surprise visit to this stupid girl who didn't even invite me to her marriage."
"Don't mention that child. You should have come a little bit earlier and we could have eaten together," said Ma with her gentle smile which soothed everyone's soul.
"Lemme go and meet my handsome 'jiju' first."
Sush knew nothing about Sparsh. Ragini had decided to inform her about the marriage directly with the invitation card but things were messed up and she told her nothing. Both of them were busy with their own lives and didn't communicate with each other. Hence, Sush didn't know that Ragini was married to Sparsh.
Ragini's heart raced as Sush ran towards Sid and stood before him with a silly smile on her chubby face. Ragini was about to interrupt when Sush turned to Sparsh who was standing right beside Sid and said, "Are doctors supposed to look like this? I mean, OMG! Rags, he's amazing!"
Ragini took a sigh of relief and thanked God. Sparsh's cheeks turned red with all those compliments. Sid and Sush exchanged a glance before Ma advised Ragini to take her friend to her room.
"So much happened and you didn't even think of letting me know. When were you gonna tell me, ha?" Sush was furious after listening to the whole story. She had gone to her parents' house and got to know about her marriage there. Initially she thought Ragini had married Sid but when she looked at the pictures, she was surprised.
"I'm really annoyed. Neither you nor Sid informed me about this. You know what, I've got a headache now!" Sushmita took a pause and then continued, "So, now you love your husband. You've completely forgotten your past with Sid and have moved on with Sparsh jiju."
Ragini nodded.
"What a melodrama this is! What about Sid? Has he moved on too?"
Ragini thought for a few seconds and then replied, "I think so. He has been keeping his distance from me and is not bothering me at all. I guess he has accepted it and I'm glad about it. I don't want any troubles with Sparsh. I'm happy with him."
"This is like a typical Indian daily soap! It's giving me chills!"
When asked about why she was in the city, Sush replied, "My company has a branch here too, I got myself transferred because I missed this city. And ofcourse, I missed you and Sid. All of my plans are ruined, I guess. I thought we'll hangout like we used to and have lots of fun, but look at all this. You guys don't even talk to each other now."
"Everything happens for a good reason. Initially, I hated Sid. But now, I don't. It was because of him that I got to have Sparsh in my life. It didn't even take me a month to fall in love with him. He's just so nice, so caring that I caught feelings for him so quickly. He made me let go of the resentment and revenge I held in my heart. I really love him, Sush."
There was a knock on the door. Sparsh entered the room.
"Won't you serve your friend lunch?" said Sparsh.
"I've already eaten. I visited her parents and had lunch with them. I don't need anything," said Sush.
"You should still have some," insisted Ragini.
"I'll have a tea then, but not lunch. My stomach's full."
Ragini got up to go down to get some refreshments for her friend but Sparsh stopped her and said, "Ma said she'll take care of it. You should sit with your friend."
"Woah! You've got a great family. A handsome husband, a loving mother-in-law and I'm sure the others love you the same."
"You're right!" Ragini held Sparsh's hand while looking into his eyes. "I'm the luckiest woman."
