IT TOOK EYANA years to believe in magic

IT TOOK EYANA years to believe in magic. It wasn't for lack of trying; for some reason she wanted to believe everything her mother told her, even though they were the strangest things ever.

Arpina Astrea, in all honesty, had an unusual perspective on life; some might even call her eccentric, but for little Eyana, her mother's genuineness was what kept her sane and kept her away from the logic and precision that made her life boring, so she clung to the possibility of something big.

Unfortunately, the validity of magic in her life quickly vanished. Any lingering fantasy she may have had was destroyed by the war; even an eight-year-old could not have maintained the delusion of a happy life after her mother disappeared.

Entering the house without seeing Arpina in her regular vibrant, oddly colored outfits was unusual. Sometimes she would stay up late, waiting for her mom to come into her room with a manuscript in hand, and ready to share another one of her amazing adventures, but that never happened.

After a few months, Eyana stopped believing that she would come home, and the tiny remnant of hope she had inside her went away, making her cling more and more to logic and leave the fantasy life behind, as well as the memories of her mother.

With the post-war trauma, the woman's image faded from the girl's mind, as did the memories she shared with her, so she sought refuge in logic and precision, precisely in everything her mother had forbidden because of a lack of magic, creativity and imagination.

Her fascination with astronomy originated from there.

Astronomy had everything Eyana liked: logic, precision, theories, and a little of the magic that her mother believed in and wrote about.

And while she was no longer convinced by the wonderful stories she had heard as a child, she was certain that falling stars were the creative part of logic.
