Fresh start

Y/n has played soccer her whole life. It kinda comes with being a part of your family. To be fair both of your parents taught you and your siblings growing up you have three siblings and they always beat you in soccer your dad used to say it was because you always gave up so easily your mom said it was because you just wanted to be a kid. Growing up in a family where all the kids were superstars was a lot of pressure on the youngest. At the ripe age of two you were playing with soccer balls and watching your siblings every day practicing drills and scrimmages.

By the age of seven you had moved to the states which was probably the best thing for you. Elementary school in the states was a blast because you had tons of friends and would ride the bus home everyday and run down the street to your best friend's house where you and Aubrey would play soccer everyday till the sun went down. If you weren't playing soccer you were swimming at the beach with your siblings. Your sister went off to play soccer at Duke for college. Your parents were so proud of all of you and your siblings.

When you were twelve you and your family were flying to surprise your sister for her senior game. But you had to fly out one day later so your dad stayed with you for the soccer tournament and your mom took the boys on the first flight they could. This was one of your best tournaments. You and Aubrey were a power duo always crossing to one another for a shot on goal. At one point you noticed your dad answer the phone and walk off. You weren't watching where you were running and got knocked down by an opponent getting the wind knocked out of you. You fell backwards and gasped for air while clutching your chest Aubrey and your teammates were running over the opponent helped you up and apologized you finished the tournament your team won you all got together so all the parents could take pictures one thing was missing your dad he always snagged pictures of you at all the tournaments. Aubrey's mom called you over to get pictures of you and Aubrey together with your medals. When you saw your dad he had a distant look in his eyes. You ran over holding up your medal and he wasn't looking at you.

"Dad hey look we won" you say showing him the medal "they.... They're gone" he says "what whose gone" you ask confused what he's talking about "they are gone dammit y/n this game we would have been with them" he started to yell Aubrey's dad started walking over seeing you flinch away from your dad. "Hey Micah is everything alright" Mr. Stevens asks putting his hands on your shoulders trying to comfort you
You can smell your dad he's slurring his words
"They are gone my wife and sons are dead because of you I'm here because of you this is all because of you" Micah yells starting to cry grabbing the collar of your Jersey shaking you Mr. Stevens jumps in and pushes your dad off of you causing you to fall back stumbling away in shock.

They're gone

Parents and teammates run over and you can't hear them. All you hear is ringing in your ears. You can see Aubrey in front of you and her mom trying to calm you but you are grabbing at your Jersey trying to get it off you can't breath you CAN'T BREATH.

Darkness

You gasp for air being blinded by the white light it's too bright you look around in a daze to see Aubrey's parents talking to a doctor and Aubrey is sitting in a chair next to your bed
"Aubs" you say raspy she looks at you and sits up
"Hey y/n/n how are you feeling" Aubrey asks gently
"Where am I" you ask
You see Aubrey's smile falter
"We are in the emergency room you passed out" Aubrey says
You see Mrs. Stevens notice you are awake she rushes from the doorway to comfort you
"Hey honey everything's gonna be okay we just needed to get you checked out you really worried us" Mrs. Stevens says brushing the hair that was in your face you lean into her gentle touch still holding Aubrey's hand

Six year time jump

You were adopted by the Stevens not long after the accident, your bio father lost custody after being found unfit during the summer, your sister stays with you and the Stevens you've grown to love your new family. It didn't take you long to call them mom and dad. They helped you through every struggle that came your way, helped you get into therapy and work through trauma and now you had two sisters who you loved with your whole heart.

It's yours and Aubrey's last game of senior year after warming up you run over to your parents they crush you in a hug " who do you think will score more goals tonight me or y/n/n" Aubrey asks with a smirk you see your mom staring at you and Aubrey with the happiest smile. " I think our girls are the best soccer players here" your dad says leaning in and kissing both of your foreheads " I love you all I can't express how grateful I am for our family" you say tearing up and Aubrey pulls you into a bone crushing and your parents join shortly after

Your coach called you and Aubrey over for coin Toss and the game begins Aubrey crosses it across to you and shot on goal but the keeper catches it
You groan and run back this time you pass it to Aubrey and she sets you up again and you do a bicycle kick and it soars into the top right corner you are tackled by your teammates everyone is going crazy "y/n Stevens with the first  goal of the game" the announcer says as Aubrey scores the next three goals

You score once more before half time

After half time someone takes out Aubrey and the ref doesn't call anything so you take the player out clean of course and than you dribble up through the defense and score another goal you run over to make sure Aubrey's okay
"Aubs are you alright" you ask helping her back on her feet
"You didn't need to take her out y/n/n" she says laughing

The games end score was 10-3

You did end up scoring more than Aubrey but it didn't matter to you

Your family had decided to all go spend the summer in Australia so you could go see your biological grandparents Aubrey was excited to just see where you were born. She still called you her Aussie but you had practically lost your accent. You couldn't sleep the night before the trip to Australia so you slipped out of yours and Aubrey's bed and crept downstairs to see your dad sitting on the couch with your cat Toby "hi dada" you say quietly as you walk to join him on the couch "can't sleep bug?" He asks quietly you lean your head onto his shoulder "I don't like flying but I wanna see my grandparents and I want you to meet them" you say honestly

"Love bug we are gonna be right there with you every step of the way just like we have been" he says kissing your forehead " and we need to go see about the offers you got from some of the clubs in Australia" he says smirking you laugh tiredly you talk until you fall asleep

"Well good morning my loves" mom says shaking you gently you look around groggily and see you fell asleep on the couch with your dad "oh dad I fell asleep on you I'm sorry" you say laughing he just shakes his head " No no I love midnight chats with any of my girls now who's ready to leave this house for the summer are you ready Toby" he asks your cat picking him up after all packed and Toby in his cat carrier you all head to the airport for the new adventure of the Stevens.

The flight is the worst part but once you get on and seated your dad hands you a Benadryl and then you close your eyes and are being woken up "we landed come on y/n/n" Aubrey says you look it the window and grab your duffle and Toby when walking off the plane you and Aubrey run to the bathroom to fix your hair "are you wearing a cat" someone behind you asks and you turn around to see the Hayley Raso " uh yeah his name is Toby" you say awkwardly "yeah it's his first time in Australia" Aubrey says excitedly Hayley laughs at that "well Toby welcome to Australia from an Aussie myself and a cat lover" Hayley says sarcastically "actually his owners from here too" Aubrey says " Aubrey stop" you say quickly Hayley looks shocked " where's your accent" she asks " oh um I moved away when I was seven I think" you say "well welcome back" Hayley says while tapping on the plastic to get Toby's attention "how long are you staying" Hayley asks "the summer I have some club teams interested in me that I'm gonna check out" you says "you play football" she asks "we both do" Aubrey says proudly "here give me your number I can get you tickets to one of the Matilda's games to watch me play" Hayley says winking you give her your number "it was great meeting you Hayley" you say as you and Aubrey run off to catch up with your parents

"Guess who we met dad" Aubrey says teasing you "who" he asks smiling "the girl that y/n has had a poster of in her room for like three years now the Hayley Raso her girl crush" Aubrey says winking and bumping shoulders with you "hey leave your sister alone Aubrey you have crushes too" your mom says "okay can we stop talking about my crush" you says blushing
