Change in attitude

Back at the Montenegro mansion, Jessica couldn't stop thinking of the young man she had met earlier on. He had cute blue eyes, well-trimmed hair and beard and was neatly dressed in a fine Asian suit. She kept on trying to remember the beautiful features of the young man when she felt a hand on the left side of her shoulder.

 "What are you thinking about"; Raphael, her brother, asked, breaking her thoughts. He saw some letters she was holding and then took it, gripping it firmly ." And what do we have here";   he opened one of the letters to read.

 "You can read it if you want"; she said with an angry face yet a calm tone. Raphael noticed it and quickly decided to mind his own business.

 "Well anyway, let's forget about the letter"; he said then placed the letters on the glass table.

 "Let's go to the greengrocer, he seems to have new fruits and vegetables in his shop this week"; he said, taking her hand , which she quickly retreated.

 "Sorry Raph, but I'm busy now, maybe some other time if you don't mind"; she said with a fake smile. He shrugged, smiling back at her yet in an annoyed way.

 "I must leave then, see you tomorrow, goodnight"; Then he walked to his room without even waiting for her reply. She just stared till he walked out of the hall then sighed quietly, throwing curses at him undertone.

Jessica went on to read the letters which she
had received from some friends she went to college with. Some invited her to come on a friendship trip with them to have some fun while others also asked about how she was doing. She smiled when she read one of the letters, the one she had been longing to read since the butler brought the papers to her.

 "Hello, honey"; Mr Montenegro greeted his daughter behind her.

 "Father, you kept long today";

"I know love, I just wanted to go through a few documents before leaving the office"; he said while taking a seat by her "but I was not happy to see an annoyed son walking to his room, what happened now".

She shrugged "I don't know what is wrong with him, he keeps treating me like a child and he doesn't even show any respect to me"

 "I know you don't like his attitude, the truth is I don't like it either, but he is your brother and you will have to get used to it. You know how your brother is too" he advised. 

Raphael has always been hungry for money though he had enough to even buy mansions. But yet, he doesn't seem satisfied with what he has which always makes him angry.[As the proverb says "A hungry man is an angry man].

 "Well, I will try to live with it for a while. But trust my words dad, if he doesn't change that attitude of his, I will change it myself," she said then grabbed the letters, kissed her father on his forehead then bid him goodbye and left for her room. 

Mr Montenegro became worried as to what his daughter just said, and he knew she was capable of doing it because her mother did the same to him.

Olivia, Mr Montenegro's ex-wife had left him because of his attitude. He always fought with her many times concerning a few issues then will leave the house and returned back a few days later. That went on for months until she decided to leave the house.

   "what do you mean you are leaving, you are not going anywhere" he yelled at her going crazy.

  " I am leaving whether you like it or not. I will rather be a spinster than be in this cursed marriage with you" she fought back at him using all her strength to stay courageous in front of her husband.

   "Fine, you can leave but the kids are not going anywhere" he ranted at her. 

   "What do you mean, my children are not going to stay with an uncivilised and Savage looking man like....." within the blink of an eye, he punched her hard in her face, relishing all his anger on the woman in front of him. Olivia felt the world spinning around her before darkness suddenly surrounded her. 

   She woke up and found herself at the hospital. She searched the room and found her husband sitting by her sobbing. "Alonso" she called his name.

    "Olivia, please, I am sorry, I never meant to....".

    "I want a divorce"; was all he heard until she went back to sleep again. Since he was aware she was already awake, she did not beat around the bush. Alonso had come back to his senses after he realised what he did to his wife and vowed to change his attitude and never drink again. But he was not fortunate enough because as soon as she was discharged, she requested the divorce papers and left him. However, she still had contact with her children to make sure he didn't lay a finger on them. The weeks turned into months, the months turned into years, and the years turned into a decade. 

   Raphael, Olivia and Alonso's firstborn, went into business to help his father with the company being the general manager. While Jessica, the last born, helped as an assistant to her brother and also a Fashion designer. She was famous because of her designs and was given so many nicknames. But her brother never respected her because he was the boss of her their father's company. Their father was aware of how bad their relationship was but kept it to Himself.

Raphael has been trying for years now to become the CEO of his father's company but always failed at the end of the day because of his sister. She suspects that her brother is up to something so she always keeps her eyes on him, all his movements and other stuff that he does. That made him hate his sister so much that he made a hoax to have her kidnapped, but his plan failed when she found out about it and threatened to report him to her father to have him fired.

      He had to plead with her many times and apologise to her before she kept her mouth shut. Thinking his sister was stupid enough to be tricked, he made another plan to be friendly with her, but deep inside of him, he hated her so much. Jessica noticed her brother's sudden change of attitude and she knew that he was pretending. "I have to be more careful or this won't end well with me," she thought to herself.
