After leaving Forks, Athena doesn't go to Alaska with Carlisle, Esme, Jasper, Rosalie, Emmett, and Alice or to New York with Edward, she heads to Volterra. She's even aiming to visit and this is the perfect time.
She's stopped upon entering the castle and the vampire smiles.
"Aw, you must be new," Athena coos.
"Giovanni, she's welcome here," the familiar voice of the twins, Jane and Alec, say in sync as they appear.
"Athena!" Alec rushes over and he gives Athena a hug. "Come!"
"Giovanni joined the ranks two months ago," Jane explains. "He is new."
Giovanni pouts slightly but he follows when Alec tells him to. They go to the throne room and Caius lights up when he sees Athena. He walks over and he gives her a hug.
"Hello again, Athena," he greets her and pulls away. "No Edward?"
"We broke up a few months back," Athena says. "I'm okay, Caius," she adds quickly, "don't worry."
"Good," Caius replies. "How long are you staying?"
"For a little while," Athena says. "If that's okay."
"Of course it is!" Aro boasts excitedly as he claps his hands together. "It is so good to see you again, Athena!"
"Even I agree," Marcus says. He has been depressed since his mate, Didyme, was killed shortly after he, Caius, and Aro came to Italy. "Lovely to see you again, Athena."
"It's good to see you again, too, Aro and Marcus," Athena replies with a small smile. "I've missed the castle, but I want to see the guards. I met Giovanni upon arrival."
"I'll introduce her," Dimitri, the Volturi's tracker, speaks up. "Hey, Athena!"
Athena and the tracker hug one another and she greets Felix with a hug, too, before Dimitri leads her out of the throne room once the Kings agree to her seeing the guard and meeting all of the newcomers.
"It's good to see her," Aro says.
"It is," Caius agrees and they all grin.
