Nishikata POV
---------------------------------
She won't stop teasing me.
Even though she is helping me with my English it is a bit annoying. What did I expect honestly? This is Takagi-San after all. She's perfect in every way except her one glaring flaw of never having self-control when it comes to me.
Hold on?
Did I just say she's perfect? I can feel blood rushing to my face, no no no. I just meant she always wins at our games, that's it! Though I would be hard pressed to find a flaw in her. She's kind when it comes down to it, she's helping me because she wants me to succeed after all. She's confident enough to be very popular with guys and girls, she's smart, I mean unless i'm just really easy to read. She's academically a genius. Her looks are...
"Nishikata? You're blushing."
Shoot! I am blushing! Gotta respond quickly or she'll make fun of me! "It's really hot here!" I yell out. It's freezing actually, just hope she doesn't question this.
"Really? It's freezing cold. Nishikata if you aren't feeling up to it we can reschedule? Or maybe you were just thinking of something you liked." She asks me.
"Nonononononononono!" I whisper yell back. She smiles at me, then her face drops.
"Do you hate me? Is that why you let me die?"
---------------------------------------
I wake up.
No.
I'm on the floor? I have to get up. I use the white bed to get up. My arms hurt. I see Takagi laying peacefully. I guess I passed out while doing push ups. "Hey Takagi."
No response. Well I guess I should expect that at this point. Since the accident it's been 2 weeks. I wonder what Mr. Tanabe is teaching now? Man, my body feels so heavy.
That is my day. Wake up, come here, do push ups, sleep. Well sleep is an exaggeration since I can't get rid of my nightmares. Maybe I should go somewhere. They're about to kick me out anyways. The shrine? No, too many memories. Neither the park. Maybe, the candy store? I think I could go there.
Knock Knock
A nurse comes through the door. "I'm sorry sir sadly visiting hours have ended." She said to me sympathetically.
"Yes ma'am." I respond. The hospital is terrifying, Endlessly white, The people dying around me. Of course most are getting better, but it's still a terrifying thought.
As I walk out the light is blinding. Alright now to head to the Candy Store.
Ding
The bell in the store rings as I arrive.
"Oh! Hello young man." The cashier tells me.
"Hello." I respond. What should I get? The table.. where her and I ate.
CRACK
Yeah, guess I was wrong this place does have memories. Just grab something. A chocolate bar, a fruit taffy, some sugar dust in a stick, ramen and some jelly beans. The sugar dust. I bring it to an old man in the front. He has a mask. He's really old now that I think of it. Does anyone help him?.
"Hey sir, are you okay?" I asked.
"Oh you're talking about the mask! Yes I'm fine, just a cold." He raised his hands revealing gloves. "But don't worry about getting sick!" He said. He's old now, someone SHOULD help him..
"Sir, why don't you get employees to help you? Everyone needs their time off, but you are always open, always working." I asked him.
"Well yes that's true, even if this job is easy I could use some time off... I know! I could get my grandbaby to do it!" He said in realization. His... grandbaby?
"Sir is your... grandbaby, old enough to run the store?" I asked him.
"Oh of course! She's a teenager, but still my little grandbaby." He says. Oh... a college age kid? Nah probably in later high school. Well at least he can enjoy some time off.
"Well that's good to hear, I hope she accepts your offer." I say as I give him my items. He scans them and I go on my way.
I wonder if Takagi would want some candy if she wakes up.
------------------------------
