FROM THE DINING TABLE

away. Comfortable silence is so
overrated."

season two, episode eighteen.

ALEX WAS SAT ON HIS COUCH, scrolling through the channels on the tv as a sigh leaves his lips. He had a beer in his hand, taking a sip as he settled back against the cushions more. Alex felt something hit his head making his eyebrows furrow. He looks up, reaching his free hand up and grabbing what it was. He sees it was an envelope and then noticed Aurora was now next to him. "What's this?" Alex asks as he opens it, seeing the cash that was within it.

Part of him wondered how she got it since he knew her parents weren't paying her anymore. It could be a trust fund but he wouldn't be surprised if Isaac had spent that all himself. "Money. For letting me stay with you." She responds as she shrugs her shoulders. Alex just closes the envelope back over before holding it out to her.

"I don't need that." Alex denies. Sure, he did need the money but he wasn't about to take it from her. Not when he was just trying to help her out.

"Just take it." Aurora says with a sigh, not about to take it back or leave without at least compensating something. She just grabbed it and dropped it back in his lap.

"Where are you gonna go? You don't have to high tail it out of here." Alex points out. It wasn't like she had sorted anything with Isaac yet and she couldn't stay anywhere else without a good cover story.

"I'll find a place." She admits. "Besides, I'm sure you wanna get back to your hookups anyways." Aurora says with a small laugh. But Alex wasn't really in the mood to joke around.

"Aurora." He says, not wanting to doubt her but she may be taking a turn backwards. "You're not going back, are you?" Alex asks her curiously. Aurora frowns, shaking her head.

"No."

"Seriously, just stay here until you actually figure things out." Alex states. He believed her, but he also knew she really didnt have anywhere else she could go right now.

"I-i can't." She denies as she shakes her head and Alex looks at her confused and concerned.  "I can't depend on someone else. Not after I just spent so long--" Aurora cuts herself off as she takes a deep breath. "I need to be on my own." Aurora admits, fiddling with her fingers. Alex nods his head slowly.

"Okay."

"Thank you." She says once more as she was grateful for him and for him shedding a light on her bombshell of a life. Even if he wasnt always the best person to be around. "You're still a douche though." Aurora states with a slight smirk on her face and Alex scoffs.
