"That was amazing!" I said, smiling as Will and I walked down the street. "Thank you."
He smiled down at me. "Sure."
I stared back forward, humming to myself as I skipped down the street.
"It's almost midnight," Will said then, making me glance up with puffed cheeks. "You maybe wanna-"
"Hey, Will!" someone yelled, making both him and I gaze up.
Our boss stood there, holding a mug of beer in her hand as she peeked out from the bar across from us.
"The party was today!" she told us, voice slightly slurred. "Whatare-ya doing? Get in here!"
Will sighed. "Oh, boy."
I glanced up at him, shock rumbling through me. "Oh, shoot! The party! That's right! I forgot!"
He just gazed down at me. "You don't have to if you don't want to, Suki."
I made a pft noise, waving off his concern. "What's more important than a date is coworker bonding!"
He gave me a bored look, but I just set my hands down, puffing my cheeks in annoyance. "It's... whatever. Let's just go."
And I skipped off into the bar, feeling him following me from close behind.
Twenty minutes later, I sipped casually from my beer as my coworkers cheered from behind me, tossing their beers in the air at some joke the boss made.
I sputtered my lips, waving side to side in boredom.
So much for coworker bonding. Everyone just ignored me! What the hell? I did everything for them, and they just pretend I don't exist?
Also... where was Will? He kinda vanished.
I pouted at the counter, spinning my finger along the rim of my glass.
"Suki!" someone said, making me glance up.
My now-wasted boss leaned on the counter, making my lips part when she smiled lazily at me. "Come on. You've only had one beer!"
