Rose jumped back, fur bristling. She hadn't seen this coming when she was coming out of the healer's den.
"W-Why are you here?" She spat, distancing herself away from him.
"Rose, what's wrong?" Lilac asked, soothingly wrapping her tail around Rose's shoulders. "Do you know Ripple?"
Rose bared her teeth, unwilling to tell her anything. Sootripple - no, Ripple - stared back at her, eyes wide with surprise.
"I haven't seen her before in my life," meowed Ripple, ear flicking, "but perhaps I look like a cat she knows."
Rose's heart hammered against her ribcage like a bird trapped in a cage. Why was he here?
