The next day, Emma found herself at her friend Megan's, helping her plan a surprise party for Sarah. The atmosphere was cheerful, filled with the excitement of preparing a special celebration. As they sat together, Emma couldn't contain herself and decided to confide in Megan about her date with James.

"Megan," Emma began hesitantly, "I had a date with James last night. It was wonderful, and he's been so supportive, but it's got me thinking about my feelings and the whole situation. I'm not sure if I'm ready to jump into something new."

Megan, who has always been known for her blunt, listened carefully but didn't seem as thrilled as Emma had hoped. She sighed and said, "Emma, you're such a romantic. Ithink you let yourself get swept up in these relationships so quickly. After everything with Mark, maybe you should take some time to be on your own to heal and figure out what you really want."

Emma felt deflated by her friend's response. She had expected more understanding and support, especially from someone who had been through thick and thin with her. "I know you're looking out for me, Meg, but I think maybe James is different, and I'm taking things slow. I don't want to make the same mistakes again. I just want to express my concerns with you."

Megan's expression softened, and she reached out to hold Emma's hand. "If you're having concerns, Em, then that should tell you something. I worry about you getting hurt again. You've been through so much and deserve a fairy tale ending romance that you want. Maybe you should focus on your own happily ever after for a while, just you and Lily."

Emma nodded, recognizing Megan's concern came out of a place of love. It was bittersweet moment as she contemplated the advice and her own desires. While she appreciated her friend's honestly, Emma knew that her heart was still open to the possibility of love, and she is willing to take the risk, even if it meant navigating the complexities of her romantic soul in a more cautious way.

As Emma and Megan continued to plan the party, there was a sudden interruption in the form of Megan's older brother, Daniel. Emma had known Daniel since high school, and couldn't help but feel a little nostalgic seeing him again.

Daniel possesses an effortless charm and rugged looks that tun heads wherever he goes. With his tousled blonde hair catching the light and his piercing blue eyes sparkling with warmth and vitality, he exudes an air of laid-back confidence.

Tall and lean, Daniel moves with a natural grace, his broad shoulders and sculpted physique hinting at an active lifestyle. His easy smile lights up his face, drawing others in with its genuine warmth and friendliness.

Despite his charming exterior, there's a hint of mystery and depth to Daniel, a sense that there's more to him than meets the eye. His magnetic presence leaves a lasting impression on those around him.

Back in their teenage years she'd hardboard a secret crush on him, just like many of the other girls in school. He was the quintessential cool and handsome guy, always a step ahead of the rest. Her heart fluttered at the memoires of those awkward, yet sweet, moments from the past.

"Emma, long time no see!" Daniel greeted her with a warm smile and a friendly hug. "You look great! How have you been?"

Emma's cheeks flushed as they exchanged pleasantries. "I've been keeping busy. And you, Dan? How's life treating you?"

He proceeded to fill her in on his work, his latest hobbies, and life in general. As they talked, Emma couldn't help but wonder if he was aware of her long-ago crush, or if it was just a distant memory for him.

Megan watched the two of them interact with a disapproving look on her face, sensing the underlying nostalgia in the air.

Emma's teenage crush on Daniel felt like ancient history, and she had moved on with her life, especially now with Lily and the complexities of dating. But seeing him again, even if just as friends, bought back a wave of sweet nostalgia and the reminder of how much life had changed since those high school days.
