My many friends

I'm pretty popular, you know? I've got so many friends,
And when I'll hang with which of them, somehow depends.

On exactly how I'm feeling and who'll understand,
And if I need help, who'll give me a hand.

You see,
Z's best for when I'm happy,
V's best for when I'm sad.
And I'll call on X and Y whenever I am mad.
If I'm feeling lonely and need some love,
I know that W will fit like a glove.

U wipes my tears, T mellows my fears,
Q I've simply known for so many years!

My friends are amazing, but ... they only exist in my thoughts,
When I'm here, in reality, my friends are closer to nought!

Not because I'm alone,
I'm surrounded all day,
It's just,
No one can hear the words that I don't say.

And nobody wonders why I rarely speak,
Or why, when I do, my words are empty and weak.

I can't answer that either, maybe I'm scared,
Of people listening, of finally being heard.

So I'll stick to the friends that I keep deep inside,
And watch as they handle my fears in their lives.

One day, maybe, I'll write about my friends,
And together, we'll all see how my story ends.
