(The body of George Mallory) 👆
The pair were last seen alive a few hundred metres from the summit, and it is unknown whether one or both of them reached the summit before they perished. Mallory's body was found in 1999, but Irvine's body has never been found.
The body of George Mallory has been discovered by Conrad Anker on May 1, 1999. It was the first day of their search for the bodies of George Mallory and Sandy (Andrew) Irving. George Mallory was found on Chinese slope of Mt. Everest (884.86 m) by American climber Conrad Anker. George Mallory was missing with his partner Sandy Irvine since June of 1924.
Sandy Irving still remains missing and unsolved to this day. It is believed he had a camera with him that holds the answer to whether or not if they had made it to the summit. I personally believe they did in fact, made the summit. No doubt in my mind. What do you think? Do you think they were the first to make it?
It is believed that the two climbers have died coming down from the mountain, coming down from possibly the 1st or 2nd step of the route.
