Katleen~

After the night my father passed away, I tried my best to avoid Mrs. Scott. I knew she would try to get me arrested because she thinks I killed my father. I never once let her see me in that house after that and left as I could before she could come out in the mornings. Today, I did my last clean in the house and grabbed my bag, ready to leave. Tears filled up my eyes as I was scared at the place I grew up in for the last time. Fifteen years of my memories, it didn't matter whether it was good or bad memories, but it was still a comfort place that I knew I had a home. Staying with Calix and Donovan might not be the same, but I'm hoping I will at least be at peace with myself there.

Tears filled my eyes as I stared back at the house for the last time before quietly leaving and rushing out of the area before Mrs Scott could see me. Unfortunately, her annoying daughter was standing outside, smoking a cigarette.

"Oh my gosh, if it isn't the little murder, Katleen." She snickered at the sight of me, and I frowned at the sigh of her

"Bethany, hi. Nice to see you too." I forced the smile on my face even though I wish I could punch her right now. Although I would punch myself harder for letting myself get caught

"Mm can't relate. Anyways, my mother has been looking for you. I should tell her that I found you."

"Oh, really now? Well, if you do that, I'll tell her you smoke, and I saw that boy leave your bedroom window early in the morning." I crossed my arms over my chest as I stood my ground against this 16 year old brat

"You wouldn't." Her eyes widened as she stared back at me in disbelief

"Try me, sweetheart."

I felt so bitter just hearing that word. Sweetheart. I feel like it's a curse word now. No good memories ever came to my head after hearing it, and now that my father is dead, I never want to hear that word again.

Bethany remained silent, and I couldn't help as my lips tugged into a smile. That should shut her up. Turning on my heels, I began to walk away, making my way to school.

--

Evelyn didn't come to school today for some reason, which made me worry slightly about her, but not too much because I know she does that. Donovan and I spent most of the day together, and Calix didn't come either.

"Did you pack everything you needed?" Donovan casually asked as he was leaning against a tree while I sat on the bench facing him

"Yup, it's all in my bag." I smiled softly, pointing at my school bag, which was beside me

"It's all in there?" Dono's surprised expression made me want to laugh yet cry at the same time

"Yea." My attention was dragged somewhere else when I saw a girl getting bullied by two other older girls.

I couldn't help but analyze the situation properly. The smaller looking girl was being pushed around while the bigger looking girls were pulling her hair. I can't just sit here and watch them hit her, I mean, I'm already so small myself. No, I can't be thinking like that now. If anything, they would hurt this girl very badly if I don't stop it

"D-dono.. I'll be back.." I said without looking at him and walking straight towards the girls

"Give me your money, you little brat, or else I'll make you regret it." One of the big girls grabbed the small girl's hair tighter, causing her to whine in pain

"Hey! Leave her alone!" My demand was enough to catch all of their attention

"Who the hell are you?" The other slightly bigger girl scoffed
