"That dog needs to go," came my owner's angry voice. "She just wrecks everything."
"But Eric," snapped his wife. "She's only a pup!"
I felt a foot make contact with my back left leg. I yelped in pain.
"Now, Matilda," snapped Eric. "I had enough of it."
I felt my collar being put round my neck and the leash clipped onto it. Then Matilda lead me out the house.
"I'm sorry, Niamh, girl!" She petted me gently. "But it's the next best thing."
I whimpered and nuzzled her. I knew she was sorry to let me go! She lead me to the park.
"I'll have to leave you here," sighed Matilda as we opened the gate. "But I'm sure you'll find new owners, girl!"
I felt her unclip me from the leash. Then she turned and walked away. I sat there, afraid. I'm alone. What if I got killed?

I bring to you, Niamh the Husky's story. She doesn't make it to the Mill Brook Series itself. But this is pre-Mill Brook. So it could be a stand alone. Button's story is cannon to Mill Brook Series.
