Lilith's pov
My eyes scanned the ballroom. There was an event happening. My cousins demanded my presence since it's been awhile since they've been to one. There were many powerful vampires here. They have come from around the country. The leaders of covens around this country were invited along with who they deemed right to join. It could be their top ranking vampires or a random vampire in their coven.
"Wow," Griffin says. He stood next to me. We were still on the stairs. I was leaning against the railing. I haven't gone down yet. I was waiting for Kadence. She texted me saying it was taking longer because Fae threw a servant into the wall. Kadence wanted me to go ahead without her.
"Are you going to join us?" Talon asked. With a sigh I pushed myself away from the banister.
"Let's go," I say before walking down the steps. Vampires bow at me and my cousins. A waiter walks by causing me to reach over and grab a glass. My cousins do the same. I look back at them as I take a sip of the wine. "Are you both copying what I do?" I asked.
"Yeah, the last one of these events we went to, the only thing we were grabbing off platters were ice cream sundaes," Talon says, causing me to laugh.
"True," I say. Aunt Ivy walked over before pulling my cousins away. With a groan I lean my back onto the bar. Many people walked up to the bar to order their own mixed drink. My eyes scan the area again. My cousins were greeting a neighboring coven's leaders.
Nezera and Xena walk over to me. They both pull themselves onto the bar counter on either side of me. I gaze up at both of them. My eyebrow raised at them. Nezera and Xena were mates. They were the leaders of their own Coven called Onyx. I had a large group of vampires living inside this wall that wanted to be out in the human world. I've known Nezera and Xena for a long time and decided to let them be the leaders of the group that wanted out. Their coven is in the next town over. It was close to an hour away.
"How come you passed up the crown?" Xena asked. A chuckle leaves my mouth as I drink my wine.
"I don't think it concerns you Xena," I mutter. Xena's eyes twitched. She pursed her lips.
"How have you been?" Nezera asked. Her arm wrapped around my head as she hugged my head to her side.
"Surprisingly good," I muttered. Xena shoved her beloved away from me. Xena then hugged my head to her. I roll my eyes at them. "What has life thrown your guy's way?" I asked. Xena swung her feet back and forth.
"We actually have a meeting with your cousins in a few days," Nezera says. I look at her.
"What about?" I asked. Nezera sighed before taking my wine and finishing it. She handed it back to me. I look at my now empty cup. "Really?" I asked. Nezera smirked.
"We wanted to move back. It's different outside of the wall. Our coven don't like that they have to be careful around humans," Xena says. Nezera nods her head.
"King Talon wanted to discuss us keeping our title and coven inside this kingdom. He didn't want to strip us of our coven even though we are coming back to live here. They both want to discuss how it will work," Nezera added. I nod my head.
My nose picked up Kadence's scent. Her and Fae were walking down the stairs. Fae rushed over to Talon. Kadence walks over to me. She dodged vampires as they got in her way. A guy approached her and she tried to walk around him. He would move so she couldn't walk away. A whistle left my mouth causing eyes to fall onto me. The guy looked over.
"I suggest you walk away from her," I say. The guy bows his head before rushing off. Kadence finally stood in front of me. My eyes raked over her. She wore a nice red dress. It reached the floor and was hugging her curves. "Damn," I mutter. Nezera chuckles. Xena jumped down from the counter. She grabbed Kadence's hand before spinning her around.
"You are stunning," Xena says. Kadence raised an eyebrow before looking at me. A smile makes its way onto my face.
"Thanks," Kadence mumbles. A blush appeared on Kadence's cheeks. Xena let Kadence's hand go before sitting back onto the bar. Nezera poured more wine into my glass. She set the bottle down next to her. I took a drink before Xena took the glass from me. She took a drink before passing it to her beloved. Nezera takes a drink before holding the glass out towards Kadence. Kadence shook her head.
"This is Kadence. Love, this is Nezera and her beloved Xena," I say. Nezera and Xena both let out a hum.
"You didn't tell us you found your beloved," Nezera says. I chuckle while shaking my head. My hands grab Kadence's before I pull her into me.
"I was just going to let her surprise you both," I say. Nezera and Xena both leaned down and ran their tongue across Kadence's neck. Kadence's eyes widened. My jaw lightened and I tugged Kadence into me. Her arms wrapped around my waist. Nezera and Xena both laugh.
"You should have told us," Xena says.
"Whatever," I grumble.
"I don't know if I should feel violated or flattered," Kadence says. Nezera, Xena and I laugh.
"Feel flattered," Nezera says. Griffin motioned me over. I stood up straighter before letting Kadence go.
"I will be back. Nez and Xen keep your tongues to yourself," I say. I kiss Kadence's lips before walking over to my cousins. I place my hand on my Aunt Ivy's back. She placed her hand on my back and rubbed it.
"Ascelin and Nissa, A pleasure to see you both again," I say. Ascelin and Nissa were the lord and Lady of the blood swarm coven.
"How's your mother since she stepped down?" Nissa asked.
"She's in hell-"
"She's dead?" Ascelin cut me off.
"Interrupt me again and you won't find out," I muttered. Ascelin bowed his head. "No she isn't dead. The devil himself happens to be her beloved. She recently had a son named Zander," I say. My aunt Ivy looked at me.
"You failed to mention that to me," aunt Ivy says.
"I wasn't aware you wanted info on her. Last time I knew you were not speaking to each other."
"I still want to know what is going on in her life."
"Alright I'll tell you all about her next time I know more," I spoke. Talon dismissed me, causing me to go back over to Kadence.
