Sheryl PoV
We had filed for adoption and waiting to hear back. The kids were at school and I had a day off. I was doing washing when i heard a knock at the door. I went to answer and it was James' social worker Alice.
Sheryl: oh hi
Alice: hi can I come in?
I let her in
Sheryl: coffee? Tea?
Alice: No thank you I'm good
Sheryl: what's this about?
Alice: there's a problem with the adoption
Sheryl: what problem?
Alice: James' mum has to sign away her rights
Sheryl: his mum's dead
Alice: No she's alive. It turns out that he has a different mum to his brothers. It seems his real birth certificate was hidden.
Sheryl: so what now?
Alice: she needs to sign her parental rights away before the adoption request can go through and be approved
Sheryl: what if she wants to be in his life?
Alice: we'll have to assess all factors and what effect it will have on him
Sheryl: does he know?
Alice: No. if you want I can explain it to him
Sheryl: No it's fine I'll do it
Alice: he at school?
Sheryl: yeah

James PoV
I wasn't feeling well so I went to find David. I knocked on his classroom and walked in
David: you okay James?
James: you got any painkillers? My head hurts
David: I have some paracetamol. Is it a seizure warning headache or a normal one?
James: I don't know. Both? I just feel really off today
David: what lesson do you have now?
James: science with mr mead
David: you think you'll be okay? I have a free if you want to stay in here
James: it's fine I'll go to Science
David: I'll come with you. I need to speak to mr mead anyways
He gave me the paracetamol and a bottle of water and I took the pills. We walked to the science block and I went to my lesson and David talk to mead outside. I sat down next to Callum. He was a friend I had recently made.
Callum: you okay?
James: yeah I just don't feel well
Mead came back in
Mr Mead: right so we have assessment week next week so I want you to get out your exam booklets and work through them. If you use a textbook I want the answer in a different coloured pen.
I opened the booklet and the first question was what is the mitochondria? Easy powerhouse of the cell
Half way through the lesson my headache was getting worse. I was feeling shaky and my vision was going kinda blurry. I nudged Callum
James: tell go erm weird
Callum stood up and was talking to Mr Mead and the whole class started leaving. There was a rising feeling in my stomach and I knew the seizure was approaching. I laid down and callum put his blazer under my head

David pov
Sarah: Mr Evans we need you in Mr Meads class. It's James
I got up and ran to the classroom. He was seizing uncontrollably.
David: how long?
Callum: 4 minutes
David: okay. Can you go and get Liam for me? He should be in Maths
Callum left and James' seizure stopped.
Liam: what's up dad?
David: I need you to go to my classroom. In my bag is his rescue medication. I need you to grab it for me. Be quick.
His hands started twitching and he shortly started seizing again. After a couple minutes Liam ran back in and threw me the medication. I shook it before squirting it up his nose. The seizure began to slow before stopping completely
Liam: is mum working?
David: No
Liam: I'll give her a ring
After about 10 minutes he began to come around. He tried to touch his head but his arm just flopped back down. He looked confused and scared.
David: you're okay. You've had a seizure. You're gonna go home
All of a sudden he began heaving. Callum passed over a bin and I held it beneath James' mouth. He threw up and I laid him back down.
Liam: mums on her way I'm gonna wait outside for her
Liam left and James was looking confused
David: you're okay. I know you're confused but it will go away soon
James: h-h
David: it's okay
Callum: you need me to do anything?
David: can you grab a bottle of water from the canteen?
Callum: yeah sure
Callum left and James was just mumbling
David: you think you can sit up for me?
I held his hands to support him and he sat up.
James: t-toilet
I helped him up and walked him to the toilet. He went in and I just waited outside. He came out and washed him hands. He seemed a bit more aware.
James: go home
David: Sheryl will come and get you
We walked back to the classroom and Callum was there. He gave James the bottle of water and he passed it to me to open
James: h-help
I helped him drink it. We sat at the table and James just put his head rested on his arms on the table.
David: you okay?
James: mhm
David: you tired?
James: mhm
Sheryl and Liam walked in
Sheryl: come on let's get you home. Babe there's something we need to talk about when you get home?
David: okay
They walked out of the classroom
Liam: what's that about?
David: James I think

Sheryl PoV
We got home and James went up to bed. I made some lunch and went up to his room and he had fallen asleep.

A few hours later
Everyone came home and the kids were getting ready. Liam had boxing and Lila had dance. Liam came downstairs
Liam: is James coming boxing?
Sheryl: no he's supposed to have football training and that's only if he feels up to it
Liam: okay

James PoV
I woke up and went downstairs
Sheryl: you okay?
James: yeah
David: how you feeling?
James: better. Can I still go training?
David: if you feel up to it
James: yeah I feel fine
I went and got ready. I got in the car and went to football
David: ready?
James: mhm
I trained and Coach Ryan wanted to speak to David
David: James go wait in the car okay
I took his keys and went

David pov
Ryan: David can I speak to you for a second?
David: yeah what's up?
Ryan: James has been performing exceptionally well with the u14s and he's surprised everyone with his training in the u15s. He is so talented and has the ability to progress. We've been talking to Jack the u15s manager and we have come to a decision on how James can continue developing as at the moment his current age group is too easy for him and he's not finding it challenging enough. We've agreed for him to join the u15s
David: that's amazing when will this start?
Ryan: next session
David: okay
Ryan: we're gonna do a 6 week trial which will take him to the end of the season. We'll then get together and discuss whether this move is what he needs.
David: does he know?
Ryan: not yet we're gonna talk to him next week
David: okay.
Ryan: ill see you later
I got to the car and drove home. James jumped in the shower, got ready for bed and went to bed

A few days later
I went downstairs and Sheryl had made breakfast. I ate and took my meds.
David: James there's something we have to talk about
James: have I done anything wrong?
Sheryl: no it's about your adoption
I knew this was coming
James: do you not want me anymore?
Sheryl: no no of course we want you. It's just there's been a delay
I just looked at them confused
David: your mum has to sign away her parental rights
James: my mums dead
Sheryl: Alice found your birth certificate. It seems you have a different mum to your brothers
James: What? Who? How? What?
David: we know this is a lot to take in.
I stood up and went to my room slamming the door behind me. I rang Cory
Cory: hey kiddo
James: did you know?
Cory: did I know what?
James: I have a different mum to you and Jordan
Cory: no how is that possible?
James: I don't know but it means I can't be adopted
Cory: do you know who?
James: I might have to ask Alice
