AN: This takes place after S03 EP 08. Things are canon until then, and it diverts from season 4's storyline. Joyce closed the gate before Mind Flayer killed Billy, but Hopper was still in the room when the gate was closed.
AU:
1. No one is dead, especially Eddie and Billy.
2. No one that is fine needs to be on the ground.
3. Starcourt was rebuilt without the Russians, and the grounds under the Mall were transformed into a Bunker for storms or the end of the world.
4. Joyce, Jonathan, Will, and Eleven remained in Hawkins but moved into a new house. All of those who helped with the takedown of Russians some hush money.
