Dearest Gentle Reader,

It appears that Viscount Bridgerton has entered the marriage mart.

Upon this announcement, the eligible young ladies and their ambitious mothers swarmed around him like a ravenous pack of wolves, each vying for the coveted title of Viscountess Bridgerton.

But we must all remember that this viscount has another title, rake with a capital R. Would his dalliances be over or less noticeable? Are his past indiscretions something to be overlooked, or will they overshadow his finding of a perfect match?

Is this former rake truly reformed? As we all know, a cheetah cannot change its spots.

Could he have already found interest in one lucky or unlucky young lady, depending on one's perspective? He had been seen sharing dances with a certain number of young ladies. Although he did seem to share more than one dance with Miss Edwina Sharma. Is it possible that a romance has begun to bloom?

We should find out soon enough.

22 April 1814

"Do you think it's true?"

Priscilla looked up from her embroidery, seeing Prudence and Phillipa fighting over the society papers delivered moments ago.

"Will you two stop fighting like children," her mother scolded as she swept into the room, yanking the paper out of their hands. Quickly reading it before looking up at her daughters, she said, "We must up our efforts at securing you husbands. It can't be possible for you to remain unmarried or betrothed at the end of this season."

Priscilla barely contained her eye roll. "Mother, one of your daughters is already betrothed. Should you not focus on getting her to the altar before setting your sights on the rest?"

"She will be married soon enough, as for the rest of you," Portia said, giving Priscilla a pointed look. "We have no time to waste in securing a husband. You are four and twenty, and you will be labeled a spinster if you are not already so. Not to mention, you have a child out of wedlock. The urgency to secure you a husband is far greater."

"Mother, I do not care whether I am labeled a spinster. As for finding a husband, the idea is to marry to provide him with an heir and have babies. I already have Henry."

"And where is Henry's father? Hmm," Portia said, stepping closer to her. "You seem to avoid that subject like the plague. Just answer me this: is he even alive, and does he come from a well-bred family?"
