"ONE-ON-ONE!" Malakai caught Lexa's attention after school, the girl letting out a puff of her vape, "Come on, I'll teach ya."

"Can't you see I'm busy?" She answered, dramatically shutting her eyes and smelling the lingering watermelon air. Malakai paused at the court entry, "That shits bad for you, ain't nothing like some good physical exercise though."

"My ex is a gym rat and I'm literally on the track team," Lexa lifted just the bottom of her shirt, "Six pack and everything."

"Eh, looks like a four from here," He teased, the girl chucking her bag on the floor to run past him. She swooped in, taking the ball, "Don't go shy now, Mitchell."

Malakai ran after her, trying to swat the ball out of her hands. She'd jumped and flailed as she liked, dribbling without a care in the world as she took a shot, "I didn't know my opponent was going to be a cheat."

"Oh no, no, I don't play games with sore losers," She remarked as she stretched her arms out, grabbing the ball to throw back at Malakai, "Tell me there's something you're better at teaching."

He tilted his head, swirling the basketball, "Gonna teach Spider to eat shit at the trials this weekend."

"Ooh," Lexa cheered, "New boys on the district path. Bet you're gassed up about that one."

"Feels good," Malakai agreed, Lexa grabbing the ball off him, "Good luck with Spider, basketball's like the one thing I've ever seen him take seriously."

Malakai lifted his eyes from the basketball, "What is the deal with you and Spider anyway?"

She halted at the sentence, dropping the ball to her side, "What's he said then?"

"Nah, nah, he's just always on one about ya," Malakai said, "Just wondered if you're the same about him."

"I'd never actually date him, if that's what you're asking," Lexa replied, "It'd be social suicide."

Malakai squinted his eyes at the sound of her response, "See, I'm starting to learn you're real specific about your words."

"Mhm, and what'd you pick up from that?" She questioned, Malakai diverting the subject, "Y'know, you didn't really let me get a word in the other day."

"Can't help that one," Lexa said as Malakai continued, "You don't have to make it a project to get me with Amerie, yeah? Bit more into letting things happen on their own."

"Why? Cus you're such a hotshot on your own?" She giggles. Malakai whistling, "Oh, come on. I've gotta have some sort of redeeming qualities."
