Jade watched as her friend, Jason, struggled to open a tall metal gate, by what it seemed like trying to guess the code on the lock.

He held a flashlight in his mouth so he could see it in the dark, his eyebrows furrowed in stressed focus. She had a feeling that if they continued like this, they would be here for a while. The teenagers had no possible way to even get the code correct; they had no access to the inside, and whoever had supposedly set this lock was most likely long gone by now. The area was deteriorating with time. The brunette glanced up, just to check if climbing was an option. Appeared... very... sharp at the top, would probably be best to find another way in. Plus, Jade couldn't really climb, if she tried, she probably would just look ridiculous, not even getting to the other side as a result.

"Here, let me try." Another teenager, a redhead, said, walking over to Jason with a small rock in her hand. When the blonde hesitated, the redhead spoke again.

"I'm just gonna bust the lock, I'll put it down after." She paused before adding, "I'm not a brute, dude."

Jason stared at her for a moment, before letting go of the lock, stepping back in the grass. "I'm just..."

"What?" The older teen asked, still looking at Jason when he stepped away.

"I just... I'm not sure about this, Hope. We could get in trouble." Jade directed her eyes towards the ginger when Hope glanced at her.

Jade just gave a side grin, amused with how cautious Jason was trying to be. Of course they might get in trouble, they were trying to break into an abandoned building, in the middle of the night when no one was watching. Hope slowly glanced back at Jason, slight annoyance in her next few words.

"This was your idea in the first place. You found the article and told us. Or... more like, told Jade, then she wouldn't leave me alone about it." Hope muttered with a playful glance at Jade, who just smirked.

"I know... I just... have a really bad feeling about this." Jason said, slowly pointing his flashlight towards the gate, casting the light over the dark field as well as the building on the other side. "I'm really regretting telling you guys about it."

Hope tilted her head, teasing the boy with her words. "You scared? Is that it?"

"Yes!" Jason suddenly exclaimed, not afraid to admit the truth. "This place isn't where we should be. We're putting ourselves in more danger by just being here. You guys know that!"

Hope just glanced back at Jade after Jason spoke, as if waiting for her to speak up or voice her opinion. Honestly, though, Jade was unsure what to think. She'd been the most excited about coming here out of the three, since it seemed like a fun, "scary," experience. She liked that type of thing, the fright, probably way more than the other two. Although she did have her limits. If her friends were in danger, if she was in danger, she would back down on the fright. She was honestly surprised that Jason had found any interest in something like this at all. It was unlike him. She knew that Hope didn't really take any liking to creepy things, but Jade had been able to convince her to come along after a bit of persistence.

"Yeah, I get that. But that just adds to the thrill of exploring the place, Jason!" Jade said, still being the furthest from the fence. "Plus, the only thing that seems dangerous to me right now, is the top of that fence."

"Never been one for climbing, have you, Jade?" Hope remarked, a slight smirk on her face.

"Yeah, I'd rather not get too high up from the ground, thank you." Jade replied, not wanting to delve further into it, soon after changing the subject. "Besides! Climbing that fence just looks painful at the top. Maybe we could just find a different way to get in?"
