"We can't let you start PT because of the infection." Is what Callie said a week ago. That's why Meredith was now going insane in her room

It had gotten worse, she had had another surgery a few days ago to clean everything out but it caused her a lot more pain but at least she seemed to be doing better again

"Derek?" Catherine walked up to him

"Yeah?" He turned around as he was quickly getting some work done while Meredith was supposed to be sleeping

"Can you talk to Dr Grey? There's a chance I'll have to let her go." Catherine told him.

"What? Why?" Derek put all his work down and crossed his arms, feeling very defensive

"You will have to be honest, even if her arm will function again she still won't be able to perform long surgeries with her back and leg."

"You can't do that? She has always proven herself as a surgeon, you're not allowed to fire her!" Derek yelled

"Not firing but she can't perform her job so she can't stay." She insisted

"Don't you dare doing that!" Derek growled, walking away because he was scared he'd say things he'd regret

Derek walked through the halls, feeling a bit lost. His wife was hurt in the hospital and nothing had worked along

"Callie? Can I talk to you, please?" He asked

"What's wrong?" Callie nodded and they entered a conference room so they could talk in silence

"I want Mer to either come home or be transferred to another hospital."

"Derek, you know she won't rest at home." Callie sighed

…

And that's how the next few weeks went.. Derek hadn't left her side for more than a few minutes, their daughter was in good hands of friends and family but finally Meredith was allowed to go home

Derek couldn't wait to just take his wife and daughter home again. Addison and Mark had arranged everything at the dreamhouse for them while Alex spend some time with Grace since the little girl didn't always understand her mom needed a lot of rest

"Der?" Meredith woke up

"Hey, are you feeling okay?" Derek asked, brushing some hairs out of her face

"I wanna go home." She smiled softly

"We'll go home soon. Mark is making sure you'll have a comfortable ride home." Derek explained. "And Callie will remove the cast on your arm and she'll see what she does with your leg."

"Can we take a bath at home?" Meredith asked

"Mer, you know you have to lay down a while longer and you're not allowed to remove the brace when sitting up." Derek sighed

"I'm so done with sponge baths." She groaned disappointed

"I know you are, but at home things will get better. You can rest from there." He kissed her forehead

"I missed my own bed." Meredith smiled

"About that.." Derek muttered

"What?" She frowned

"We had to move the bed downstairs, it's too dangerous with the stairs, it's just until you're up and about again." He explained to her

"Downstairs?" Meredith frowned

"In the playroom, but I promise Gracie will have enough space to play." He nodded

"Hmm." Meredith nodded, clearly not liking it but also not protesting against it as she realized there was no way to make it upstairs since she can't walk yet

"Grey, I'm here to remove your casts." Callie smiled as she walked inside with a wheelchair

"Can I sit up?" Meredith smiled widely

"We'll lift you, yes." Callie chuckled at Meredith's enthusiasm

"3,2,1." Derek counted down and together they placed Meredith down in the wheelchair, really careful to make sure they wouldn't hurt her since her spine was still healing

"Let's go, Grey. Time to check out how you're doing." Callie started leading the way

Derek pushed her, first for her scans, helping her on and off the table and eventually to the casting room. He helped Meredith to lay down and laid down next to her

"Do you think it has healed?" Meredith asked, slightly moving a bit but that hurted her

"I hope. I think your arm has, the screws are out at least.." Derek muttered. "But I don't know about your leg, I really hope you can switch to a brace or something."

"What do you think about my spine?" She looked up at him since both were really worried

"Let's wait for what Callie will say." He kissed her forehead softly

"I'm glad I can go home." Meredith smiled softly

"I'm very glad I can take you home, Mer." Derek smiled

"Your cast on your arm can come off but I'll put another one on your leg." Callie enters the room

"No.." Meredith sighed

"Your spine is still not healing as we had hoped so we'll follow that closely." Callie informs them. "Let's free your arm."
