That was the reason why a bullet grazed his side.
Then, the echoes of the bullet shots rippled across the cave, causing a collapse.
Jared, who had instantly passed away from the impact of the collapse, was trapped deep inside the cave, making it impossible for Pol to reach him. Meanwhile, I was lying at the mouth of the cave, which allowed Pol to pull me out to safety.
"Then, yeah. That's it. You know what happened next," ani Pol kina Jon at Dylan na parehas na nakahalukipkip sa harap namin.
"But still, that does not explain what happened to your rover," ani Dylan. "Half of it was destroyed, alright. Tons of heavy metals like that, let alone most of it were titanium, crumpled like a piece of paper. And where the heck did its main door go?"
Nahalata ko ang pagsinghap ni Pol. "Honestly, officer, I'm not entirely sure what happened too. My theory is that perhaps the shock wave from the cave collapse reached our parked rover—"
"At half a mile?" Jon interrupts. "A cave collapse isn't like an atom bomb, Napoleon. An energy wave doesn't crunch things, it blows them up apart. And if it's really that strong that it was able to ruin titanium, your own helmet would've been crushed too, given that you're in the cave's immediate vicinity. Clearly, you're not telling us everything."
Pagkatapos nito, sunod akong binalingan ng tingin ng dalawa. Tipong nangu-usig ang mga ito. Nananakot.
"Still can't remember anything. I'm sorry."
Naghawi si Jon ng buhok, halatang balisang-balisa. "I need to smoke."
Even Ayaz Gurel, who was supposed to monitor the activities of the two teams from the control room of our starship, claimed he had no clue. It seemed that anything that happened down in Vesta didn't register on Solstice18's satellite signals, as if some sort of strange anomaly had covered it up.
Kaya naman hanggang ngayon, wala pa ring mapigang sagot sina Jon at Dylan na pwede nilang paniwalaan.
Once Jon steps out of the consultation chamber, Dylan turns to us. "Let's do this again tomorrow. Same time. Until you, Pol, tell us the truth."
