April's poem
I was deep in thought in class earlier and that's how I came up with the idea for this poem. Sorry I'm late by the way I kinda just forgot to write it until I noticed it's almost May :')
Themes of naivety, maturity and 'welcome to the real world'. Enjoy :D

Awakening
A few months into adolescence
and the blindfold that once protected my young eyes
has turned translucent. My artificial reality had gone stale - that vague, plasticky format of a dream
has consumed my once realistic memories.I wonder how I didn't hear it - the headlines, protests, arguments, the outrage.
I know now why mother would say,
"She's in her own little world"
The simple, less complicated works I had crafted behind my figurative blindfold. The blindfold didn't feel so figurative when I had it on.
