Bronte bolted upright, screaming loudly. Grover and Percy glanced over at her, their brows knitted in worry.
"Bonnie?" Grover asked, putting a hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong?"
"Cooper," Bronte mumbled, her eyes darting around the car. "He was... I saw..."
"What about Cooper?" Percy asked, sitting up taller.
"He–"
"Bronte! What happened to Cooper?!" Grover asked, shaking her shoulders.
Bronte just flinched, making Percy rip Grover off of her. She was shaking, but that could have been from the chill in the air.
After she met up with Cooper, she woke up, so there was no way of knowing what actually happened to him. Bronte was so angry with herself for not staying asleep longer, but she had no way of controlling that.
"Bronte," Percy said calmly, noticing her frightened state. "What happened to Cooper?"
"I saw him. He was– we were hiding from someone," she finally said. "I don't know who, though."
"Where was this?" Grover asked nervously, starting to chew on some of the leather seats.
Bronte shrugged. "We were in a dark, stone maze, but I couldn't see any signs or anything."
Percy nodded, opening the car door and standing up. "We should tell the others," he declared. "Maybe one of them had a dream like yours."
"No!" Bronte said quickly. When she saw their confused faces, she added, "I just– I think I saw it because of our empathy link. I doubt they had a dream about him."
"Bonnie, we could still tr–"
"No," she said with finality. "I don't need anyone else worrying about another person. After we get Annabeth back, we will worry about Cooper."
She made her way out of the car, Grover and Percy following behind.
Bronte looked out of an open cargo door, watching the world pass by her. "I'm sure he'll be okay," she said tensely. "If anything happens to him, I would know."
Percy glanced nervously at Grover, but the two eventually gave in.
They made their way to the edge of the cargo door, sitting down on the ledge. Outside were snowy mountains dotted with pine trees, the sun rising red between two peaks.
Percy fished his pen out of his pocket and stared at it. Anaklusmos, the Ancient Greek name for Riptide. A different form, but Percy was sure it was the same blade he'd seen in his dream.
And he was sure of something else, too. The girl he had seen was Zoë Nightshade.
