obscure headcanons that i've picked up mainly from tumblr because uniqueness & weirdness needs to be embraced <3 please embrace your odd headcanons everyone, the fandom will be a brighter place

hc 1: umber is actually an ubsib and marsh, sora, clay, pheasant, crane took him in. this is why he's so small compared to them, and it also makes his crush on qibli not uncomfortable (umber is canonically 7, qibli is 5. in this headcanon, umber is 5-6) (i saw this hc on youtube in a comment on a community post)
hc 2: burn x scarlet & coral x blister toxic yuri forever. they are not meant to be in healthy relationships </3
hc 3: riptide is he/him lesbian
hc 4: mudwings can have ceratopsian horns as well
hc 5: blaze is rose-gold, burn is dark tan, blister is tan with a green undertone
hc 6: sandwing sails are made up of fur, and the fur can grow anywhere on their bodies. some sandwings even have "moustaches" (vulture does)
hc 7: seawings have an extra row of teeth on the roof of their mouths like the mosasaurus
hc 8: i'm not too sure where i'm going with this idea, but nightwings have lots of physical differences from darkstalker-era nightwings because of being isolated on an island (maybe the island rule took affect?)
hc 9: mudwings also have tail clubs like ankylosaurs
hc 10: skywings & icewings are related with a common ancestor which was very birdlike and feathered
hc 11: (might be canon?) animus power is strictly an icewing power, but through hybrids, it ended up in other tribes. lots of tribes have icewing genes now
hc 12: dragons are related to dinosaurs, but in the avian way. not a crocodile way
hc 13: hailstorm is a he/she man
hc 14: rainwings, leafwings, silkwings, & beetlewings r very closely related
hc 15: despite them coming from beetlewings, hivewings aren't that related to silkwings, rianwings, & leafwings
hc 16: rainwing frills were once for echolocation, but ended up not needed
hc 17: rainwings sold drugs during darkstalker-era (i will not be elaborating)
hc 18: vermilion has dated 20+ guys before and none of them worked out (i will once again not be elaborating)
hc 19: polyamory is very common among sandwings
hc 20: sandwings have very diverse accents. there are even different accents & dialects in small cities

winter is not an asshole. he is not selfish.
HOWEVER; qibli is selfish. he's more than a goofy, charismatic hero who does no wrong. he is obsessed with making himself look good and have other dragons think good things about him. he wants to be loved so badly.
so many of you forget about this and it honestly makes me feel like shit, because i'm like this (not entirely to qibli's extent, but yk.) and it feels like people are erasing it because it makes your perfect, idealistic hero qibli look like a selfish prick. in reality, he's very relatable, real, and has issues like everyone else. he's coping. he has trauma. let the man be just a little selfish and desperate for acceptance for five seconds i am begging you.
and let's talk about qinter. my fav ship. a very popular ship. it's more than qibli flirts with winter and winter gets angry and embarassed. it's more than qibli annoying winter to be his friend.
wrong!!!!☝️ these guys are severely fucked up and are very codependent with each other to keep one another rooted to reality. winter keeps qibli in check to not be so pushy when he's being desperate, while qibli makes sure that winter is happy and able to keep going. they LITERALLY need each other. they are so codependent and y'all r missing it. can you tell that this is my fav ship trope guys🤯
