The trees are up and lit to look magical
With ornaments and tinsel to match
Families are happy, kids are laughing
But I'm here wondering where I went wrong
What did I do for you to be moody
Five days out of seven days
Mom tries her best to stay happy but
I can see through the mask that she
Is struggling to be happy, but she's
Trying her hardest despite you
I try my hardest to remain happy
But I've been through to many years
Of this repeated behavior
And just when I think
"This year will be different"
Another argument breaks out
And the cycle repeats
The trees are up and lit to look magical
With ornaments and tinsel to match
Families are happy, kids are laughing
And I'm thinking, hoping
Maybe this year will be different
