"We're landing in 30 minutes. If something goes wrong backup waiting for mine or your call" Natasha said as she put the jet on autopilot and walked over to Peter who was sitting in one of the chairs
"That's great" Peter nodded
"What's wrong?"
"...I might have asked Mj to marry me..." Peter said with hesitation
"What? That's great Peter!" Natasha said feeling happy for her brother
"Yeah, it's not too early is it?"
"No of course not, sure most couples wait like 1-2 or more years but if you truly love each other then why not"
"She didn't say yes though" Peter said lifting his head to look at Natasha
"She said no?"
"She didn't say no either, when I asked her she just ignored my question"
"Maybe she's still thinking"
"Maybe. What if we won't make it out alive?" Peter said all of a sudden
"What do you mean?"
"What if this is our last mission?"
"Why do you think that?"
"I don't know I just have a bad feeling that's all" Peter said looking down again
"Maybe it's just your anxiety, we'll talk things over with Melina and Alexei don't worry" Natasha said and Peter nodded.
Eventually they arrived at what looked like a big mental institution.
Apparently shield did not only find Melina but they also found the red room.
"At least this one isn't flying in the air" Peter said looking out the window
"What do you want for your birthday?" Natasha all of a sudden asked
"What?"
"Your birthday is in 2 days, what do you want for your birthday?"
"You really think this is a good time to be asking that question?"
"Yeah?"
"I just want to go home"
"Alright" Natasha said nodding.
As soon as they stepped out of the jet a bunch of soldiers surrounded them with their guns pointing at them.
"Be cool" Natasha said to him as she raised her hands in the air. Peter did the same
"Can I speak to Melina? I'm her daughter, kinda" Natasha said and one soldier said something into his radio
"Take them inside" he told the others and they grabbed Peter's and Nat's hands before tying them behind their backs and dragging them inside.
"She only wants to speak to him, put her in a cell" The soldier told the other soldier.
Peter saw Natasha winking at him as she let them drag to a cell while the others dragged Peter to Melina's office.
Once they arrived the soldiers opened the doors and stepped inside.
Peter saw Melina sitting at her desk writing something on a paper and when they walked in she looked up.
She smiled at Peter and stood up
"Peter! How nice it is to see you" she said as she walked closer
"Take these off" She told the soldier and they untied Peter's hands.
Peter was still staring at Melina with a look of betrayal on his face as he waited the guards to leave.
Once they did Melina spoke again
"What a wonderful surprise, come on sit. Do you want something to drink?"
"No I don't, and I don't want to sit" Peter said and Melina let out a quick sigh
"I know you're probably angry-"
"Angry? Oh I don't think there's enough words to describe how I'm feeling right now..." Melina stayed silent and just looked down
"Where's Alexei?" Peter asked.
Melina looked up at him again "dead"
"What?"
"He was threatening to expose me and tell everything to Natasha. So I had to kill him".
Was Peter sad and angry? Yes, he forgave Alexei in his heart but he never got to tell him that in person. And now he will never be able to
"Why? Why did you help Natasha take down the red room if you're continuing to run it"
"I needed Dreykov gone, the way he was running things just wasn't super smart. I wanted to take his place so I tricked Natasha into helping me" Melina escaped
"Why? You know what the red room does-"
"Yes, I know what it does. But it also created really good soldiers, take you for example, just imagine what you can do with so many of them"
"You're insane..." Peter said and Melina laughed
"I'm insane? Peter did we forget that you were the most crazy out all of them? Do you wanna know why I never felt bad for taking YOU back to the red room? It's because I knew you would fit right in, you were bad from the beginning. You barely cried as a child"
"No I did cry!" Peter said angrily
"Do you remember the day when you were 5 and you killed a poor innocent baby and brought it to me. The emptiness in your eyes just showed who you were gonna be when you grow up"
"Stop..."
"Or when you laughed at a really bad car crash-"
"I said that's enough".
After a couple seconds of silence Melina spoke again
"I was happy when they told me you and Natasha were here, I was going to offer you to work here with me but I guess you won't huh?"
"No, I won't" Peter said. Melina then nodded and called out for the guards.
Before they could open the door Peter used his powers to shoot a vibratory wave at the door keeping it from opening.
Peter saw the surprised look in Melina's eyes and smirked
"I bet you or anyone in the red room or hydra knew I was born an inhuman
"That's impossible none of your parents were inhuman"
"Yeah well, I guess miracles do happen after all. Where are the widows?" Peter asked and Melina just smiled
"I'll take you to them, I just need to grab the key" Melina said and opened a drawer.
Peter looked away for a second and Melina quickly pulled out a gun and shot it at Peter's neck.
Peter let out what sounded like a chocked sound and pulled the dart out of his neck before looking down on it and throwing it on the ground.
"What did you do to me?" Peter slurred as his vision became blurry and could barely stand on his feet.
"I'm sorry" was all Peter heard before he passed out and fell to the floor.
