"damn, briar. you look terrible" parker chuckled as him and oliver help her go to her room "i mean you are-" he was immediately interrupted by oliver who intentionally spoke.

"not the right time, can't you see" she pointed at briar, who looks like she's been beaten up.

briar groaned in annoyance which made the two stop and turned to her "can you just get me to my room" she  said.

"even when she's drunk, she's like that" parker whispered, oliver rolled his eyes.

as soon as the two went to briar's room helped her lay down, they bid good nights and went to their separate rooms.

briar groans before putting both palm of her hands on her eyes, rethinking why'd she drink that much even though that wasn't really her plan on doing.

austin's house.

before austin could step in his house he was approached by the presence of grace who looks worried.

"austin, have you seen briar? i've look for her everywhere i didn't see her" she asked worriedly as she tries to contact briar.

"she's alright, i took her home" austin responded, she stops on what she was doing and faced him, "you did?"

he nodded, "yeah, i had to take her i mean" he explained the rest.

"oh my god, thank you so much! i was so worried, well i better get home, your party was a blast!" she patted austin's shoulder before leaving.

"thanks for coming!" he shouted before entering back inside, enjoying the party still.

the next day & third person's pov.

it was the next day, briar including her friends are still in their hangover era, well except for grace who is stable.

time check, 9:30 am.

her alarm began ringing nonstop which caused her to wake up and sat up, "god" she uttered as she caresses her head.

but before she could go flat on her back again, two of her brothers barged in the door a bit too aggressive-ish which made her startled and made her sat up once again.

"you've got to be fucking kidding me? can you two get out, it's saturday" she squinted her eyes due to broad daylight because parker opened her window.

he sniffs aggressively "briar, do you smell that great old flowers" he sniffs again, "perfect" he muttered to himself.

"parker, you're sniffing nothing but dirt" oliver said.

he turned and shot a death glare on oliver, "come on, do you have to ruin the fun" he faced the window again and closed it.

"why are you two here, anyway?" she questioned.

both parker and oliver glanced at each other before one of them could respond to briar's question. "sis, we're here to give you that ointment so that your hang over could worn off" parker responded.

briar nodded, as the two gave her that so called ointment, out of curiosity briar asked them again that made them shock before she could drink it.

"are you sure y'all didn't put anything here" she raised her left brow as she accepts the 'ointment' from oliver.

"why would you say that? we wouldn't"

"cause i know y'all would, especially you, p" she chuckled. "guilty! but whatever you say, but i swear i didn't" he raised his hands in surrender.

the payne's began chatting actually, her brothers had to sit on her chairs inside her room, to be honest this is the longest time they have been together.

even if they do fight or bicker a lot because of some shenanigans, but deep inside they do care for one another and would take a bullet for one another, well take the bullet for one another out cause i am sure none if them would do that.

[...]

in the middle of the afternoon, the payne siblings briar, oliver, and parker were lounging around their house. oliver was engrossed in a book, parker was playing a video game, and briar was scrolling through her phone. the house was peaceful, filled with the lazy hum of a quiet day.

suddenly, there was a knock at the door. briar looked up, puzzled. "who could that be?" she muttered, setting her phone aside.

oliver put down his book and parker paused his game. "i'll get it," oliver said, standing up and heading to the door. briar and parker followed out of curiosity.

when oliver opened the door, briar's eyes widened in shock. standing there, grinning from ear to ear, was her best friend from new york city, isla brightly.

"isla?" briar exclaimed, her voice filled with disbelief and joy. "what are you doing here?"

isla laughed, stepping forward to hug briar tightly. "surprise! i missed you so much, and i just had to come visit."

briar hugged her back, a huge smile spreading across her face. "i can't believe it! this is amazing!"

parker, ever the curious one, chimed in. "so you're here because your house is being renovated, right? and your parents are out of town for work?"

"isla turned to him, grinning. "yep, that's right! and i'm staying at my aunt's house nearby, so i had to come see you guys."

"nice to finally see you again," oliver said with a smile. "come in, come in."

they all moved into the living room, the excitement palpable. briar and isla sat on the couch, catching up quickly.

"so, how was the trip? did you come all the way from new york just to see me?" briar asked, still amazed.

isla nodded. "yep, it was a long journey, but totally worth it. i needed to see my best friend and catch up. i've got so much to tell you."

parker leaned forward, intrigued. "like what? any juicy stories from the big city?"

isla laughed. "oh, plenty! but first, tell me about you guys. how's life here?"

briar filled her in on their new life, the friends they had made, and the recent events, including the party at austin's. she avoided mentioning the awkwardness with austin, but isla picked up on the vibe.

"is there something you're not telling me, briar?" isla asked with a sly smile. "is it about a guy?"

briar blushed slightly. "it's nothing, really. just a guy from school who's been... surprising."

isla raised an eyebrow. "sounds interesting. you'll have to tell me more later."

oliver, sensing the need to change the subject, asked, "so, isla, how long are you staying?"

"i'm here for a week," isla replied. "i thought it would be great to hang out and see what life here is like."

"that's awesome," briar said, her excitement bubbling over. "we're going to have the best time. i can't wait to show you around."

parker grinned. "yeah, we'll give you the full tour. maybe even show you the local hangouts."

isla laughed. "i'm looking forward to it. i've heard so much about this place from briar. it's nice to finally see it for myself."

they spent the afternoon talking and laughing, catching up on everything they had missed. briar felt a warmth in her chest, grateful for the unexpected reunion. having isla there made everything feel right, and she was excited for the week ahead.

as the sun began to set, the payne house was filled with the sounds of friendship and family, the perfect backdrop for isla's visit. it was a day briar would always remember, marked by the joy of reuniting with her best friend and the promise of new adventures to come.
