The battlefield fell silent, the remnants of cursed energy dissipating into the air. Gojo's Hollow Purple had engulfed everything on its way, and the figure of their enemy had... visibly disintegrated in the explosion.
Yuta stood beside Eliana, his gaze fixed on the spot where Kenjaku was just standing, ensuring that no remnant of their enemy remained. While Eliana... She just stared at the now obliterated forest, eyes widened as if her brain was still struggling to process what had just happened in the last minutes.
She had been closer to death than she ever had, and then... miraculously rescued by a strange S-grade teenager, who was actually Gojo's student. And a few seconds later, the man who had been impersonating her best friend and taking over his body, had been wiped out by Gojo's technique.
Not your regular Monday night.
Gojo took a step towards Eliana, his heart pounding with a mix of relief and lingering fear. He gently pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly as if he was afraid she might disappear.
- "Eli... I'm so glad you are safe", he murmured, his voice trembling.
Eliana clung to him, her own relief mingled with the residual terror of the entire experience. She buried her face in his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart.
The white haired man pulled back slightly, looking into her eyes with a fierce intensity.
- "I was so scared, Eliana", he admitted, his voice breaking. "Scared of losing you. I've faced so many curses and enemies in my life... but nothing compares to the fear of losing you."
She reached up, cupping his face in her hands.
- "You saved me, Satoru."
Gojo's eyes softened, and he leaned down to press a gentle kiss to her forehead.
- "I... I love you, Eli. More than anything. And I'm sorry for everything that you had to go through. You're safe now, no one will ever hurt you again, I promise..."
Her eyes widened in surprise, and she smiled, her heart swelling with joy as she leaned forward and pressed her lips against his.
- "I love you too, Satoru."
From behind them, Yuta cleared his throat, a grin spreading across his face as he watched their tender moment.
- "Sorry to interrupt", he said with a playful tone, "but we haven't been properly introduced. Nice to meet you Eliana-san, Gojo-sensei told me a lot about you when I was his student."
Gojo stood up and put a hand on his shoulder.
- "Yuta... I knew I could count on you."
- "I received your message and followed your instructions closely, sensei. I masked my scent with Rika's, so that Kenjaku or the other curses wouldn't detect me."
Eliana wiped her tears and shook his hand, her smile warm and grateful.
- "Thank you, Yuta. You... saved my life."
The boy blushed slightly, scratching the back of his neck.
- "It was nothing! I'm just glad you're okay."
Gojo chuckled, wrapping an arm around Eliana's shoulders.
- "You did great, Yuta. I couldn't have done it without you."
- "Just following your lead, sensei," the boy smiled.
They stood there for a moment, in silence. Any sign of cursed energy had visibly dissipated, leaving the forest quiet and still.. or at least what remained of it.
- "Is it really over?" Eliana asked, her eyes searching Gojo's for reassurance.
Gojo and Yuta exchanged a glance.
- "For now, it seems like it. No one could have survived the Hollow Purple."
- "That one blue haired freak did, though, back at the school," Eliana replied.
Visibly, the girl was still quite shaken up, her eyes darting around the destroyed forest, looking for any hidden threats.
Gojo kneeled in front of her, putting a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
- "Eliana, look at me", he said gently. "That situation was different. That... Mahito freak had managed to flee, somehow, before the Hollow Purple could possibly reach him. This time, there was no way anyone could have survived it."
- "But what about the other curses that were with him?"
Yuta gave her a reassuring smile.
- "I sent Rika to track their scent. They flew away the moment Gojo-sensei activated his technique."
- "We took out their leader", Gojo continued. "Without him, those curses don't have the same coordination... or power."
Yuta nodded, adding his support.
- "It's true. We've seen it before. Take out the head, and the body falls. We need to stay vigilant, but for now, I think we're going to be safe."
Eliana bit her lip, her gaze still scanning the shadows.
- "I just... it feels too easy. Like something's still out there."
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the feeling that this... wasn't over. For some reason. But she had seen their enemy being disintegrated in the flash of the explosion. So why couldn't she shake off this feeling of unease...
- "We should probably head back", Yuta said as he stepped forward, bringing her back to reality.
Eliana nodded slowly, allowing Gojo to help her to her feet.
- "What are we even going to tell the others," Eliana muttered.
Gojo chuckled softly.
- "That's gonna be one hell of a story to tell, that's for sure."
As they walked to the bottom of the hill, Gojo kept a protective arm around Eliana, his senses on high alert despite his reassurances. He glanced at her, seeing the lingering fear still very much present in her eyes, and his heart ached. He knew she was trying to be strong, to put on a brave face, but the trauma of the past few days had taken its toll. He knew her better than anyone else.
Gojo hated himself for not having been able to protect her. Sure, they avoided the worse. They put an end to this curse user's twisted plans. But Eliana had spent three entire days in his clutches. Three days away from him, and during all this time, he hadn't been able to protect her.
And in that very moment, he swore that he would never let anything happen to her ever again. The thought of losing her, of seeing her hurt, was more than he could bear. She was his anchor, his reason for fighting, and he would do everything in his power to protect her.
No more underestimating their enemies. No more letting his guard down. Satoru Gojo would be the shield that stood between Eliana and any threat that dared to come their way.
She was his heart, his world, and he would protect her with everything he had.
