The rooftop was their favourite place, a hidden sanctuary away from the bustle of the school. Jeonghan and Joshua had claimed it as their own. They sat there almost every lunch break, sharing stories, laughter, and the occasional comfortable silence.

Today was no different. Jeonghan had brought lunch for both of them, as usual. Joshua was happily munching on a sandwich, his eyes sparkling with contentment. Jeonghan couldn't help but smile as he watched his best friend eat. There was something incredibly endearing about Joshua's enthusiasm for food, especially when Jeonghan was the one who had prepared it.

Joshua looked up, crumbs adorning the corners of his lips. "You always make the best sandwiches, Jeonghan. What's your secret?"

Jeonghan chuckled, his heart doing a little flip at the compliment. "It's just a sandwich, Shuji. You give me too much credit."

Joshua shook his head vehemently. "No way. This is a masterpiece." He took another big bite, savoring the taste.

As Joshua enjoyed his meal, Jeonghan's fingers itched to capture the moment. He reached into his bag and pulled out his sketchbook, carefully flipping it open to a blank page. He glanced at Joshua, who was now humming a tune, blissfully unaware of Jeonghan's intent gaze.

Jeonghan's pencil began to move, tracing the familiar lines of Joshua's face. He loved sketching Joshua, not just because he was his best friend, but because there was something uniquely captivating about him. The way his eyes crinkled when he smiled, the gentle curve of his lips, the way his hair fell just so—it all fascinated Jeonghan.

"Hey, what are you drawing?" Joshua asked suddenly, leaning over to peek.

Jeonghan snapped the sketchbook shut, his cheeks heating up. "Nothing! Just doodling."

Joshua raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "You're always so secretive about your drawings. One day, you'll have to show me, you know."

"Maybe," Jeonghan said with a playful smirk. "But not today."

Joshua pouted dramatically. "You're no fun."

Jeonghan laughed, feeling a warmth spread through him. Moments like these made everything worthwhile. The banter, the teasing, the unspoken bond they shared—it was all perfect. Even if Joshua didn't know the extent of Jeonghan's feelings, being close to him was enough.

They finished their lunch, talking about everything and nothing. Joshua's voice was a soothing melody, and Jeonghan found himself lost in it, in the moment, in the boy who had unwittingly stolen his heart.

As the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch, they packed up their things. Joshua slung his bag over his shoulder and grinned at Jeonghan. "Same time tomorrow?"

Jeonghan nodded, his heart feeling lighter than it had in a long time. "Wouldn't miss it for the world."

As they walked back to class, side by side, Jeonghan couldn't help but steal one last glance at Joshua, committing the sight to memory. Maybe one day he'd gather the courage to tell him how he felt. But for now, he was content with their rooftop lunches, secret sketches, and the easy companionship that meant everything to him.
