Whenever my parents make me go to a Mexican restaurant, I happily agree, even though I know that the Mexican restaurants I visit may not always serve truly authentic dishes. I eat my favorite food whenever I travel to Mexico. Everyone knows about tamales, tacos, and enchiladas but there are so many more traditional foods that are worth trying as well. The traditional foods that they are there are macita con orejones, corazones, and tomatadas. My favorite dish to eat is macita con orejones.
One of my absolute dishes to eat in Mexico is corazones, which are made from cactus. Cactus may not sound appetizing to some, but when cooked in the traditional Mexican style, it is delicious. The tender texture of the cactus combined with the bold flavors of the spices and seasonings create a truly unique and mouthwatering dish. I could eat corazones every day and never tire of its delectable taste.
One such dish that I have grown to love is macita con orejones. The broth is made with pumpkin apricots, a traditional Mexican dish that are prepared by cutting a pumpkin into slices and drying them in the sun for a few days. The flavor of the pumpkin apricots is sinfully tender and a little bit salty. The dish is perfect, and the bright colors of the ingredients floating from the broth make it a feast for the eyes and the stomach.
And tomatadas, a delicious dish that consists of tacos smothered in a flavorful tomato sauce, with lettuce, tomatoes, and avocado slices on the side. The tomato souce makes it the tortilla soggy and you have to eat with a fork it is not the same with other tacos. The simplicity of the ingredients combined with the bold flavors of the tomato sauce make tomatadas a dish that is both comforting and satisfying. The freshness of the vegetables adds a crisp texture to each bite, while the creaminess of the avocado balances out the acidity of the tomatoes. The combination of flavors and textures is truly a culinary delight that never fails to make my taste buds sing.
This is a dish that I like to experience. While I may not always have the opportunity to eat truly authentic Mexican food, I am grateful for the chance to experience flavors and dishes that are different from what I am used to. That means every state has their own food and have different names that I am used to. If you visit other states of Mexico who do not always have the same dishes they can have their own way to set them apart.
So, the next time my parents suggest going to a Mexican restaurant, I will happily agree. But deep down, I will always long for the taste of true Mexican culinary that can only be found in the heart of Mexico. That means there are different types of food that I never tried before and I want to experience my culinary journey.
