HUSKS POV
It was the next morning- actually, the next afternoon, when Husk yawned and stretched as he woke up. He was usually hungover, so he had gotten used to the painful headache and the nausea (and he usually got drunk again before he could feel it) but today it hit especially hard. He looked around the mess on his floor and spotted a painkiller within the chaos. He took it with the last bit of liquor in one of the stray bottles, then got ready for what was left of the day. He shut his door behind him and almost planted face first in the carpet when he came close to tripping over Nifty, who was zooming up and down the hotel corridors, with a knife in hand.
Husk was behind his bar, looking through the bottles to find his favourite drink. When he came back up he found Charlie sitting opposite him, with a nervous grin.
"Can I ask you something, Husk?"
"Let me guess- what to do about that hangover of yours?"
Charlie hadn't been able to match Husk with the amount of drinks last night, but she was evidently a massive lightweight. She also appeared to be a very flirty drunk. Husk noticed that when she was talking quietly to Vaggie with a drink in her hand, Vaggie went bright red.
"No- well maybe... no, that's not what I want to ask you about. Apart from me, you probably know people best in this hotel, since you listen to all their problems when they're...tipsy. Ok, do you think I should propose to Vaggie?"
Husk stopped. He expected her to ask about his opinion on a trust exercise or something like that. It felt good that he was the one Charlie asked.
"Well, you guys love each other. And it's not like you haven't been together long. I say go for it."
"But what if she's not ready? Or what if she's not a marriage kind of person- or- or-!"
"Charlie. The worst thing that could happen is she says no. And if we're being honest, that's not very likely."
Charlie gave Husk a smile, which he returned after putting the bottle of whiskey down. Charlie's expression grew concerned.
"Husk, I know you're not here for redemption or anything like that, but if you ever need to talk instead of going straight to drinking- no judgement- but just in case...I'm here."
"I know. Thanks, kid. Hey, where is everyone? It's weirdly empty."
"Angel and Cherri are in Cherri's room, coping with the hangover, I'm guessing. Vaggie is getting ready, we have a date tonight! Nifty is cleaning, as usual. Here, I'll talk to Alastor. Take the night off- take care of yourself. You know we are all about self care here!"
Charlie ran off to get ready for her date, leaving Husk at the bar. He sighed, knowing he was going to spend the night getting shit faced by himself again.
Fun.
