My sister finally arrived.
But in a cage, she lay chained in a box. Her wrists were bruised, and lashes on her back that you could see through her white t-shirt were only slightly healed, a frown formed on my face, slowly transforming into a scowl, I paced myself from my throne to her cage, taking small intricate steps. As I approached her cage, the two guards hoisting the large tough wooden cell, placed the gold-encrusted handles down on the palace's newly minted tile floors.
Her body lay limp, her arms cuffed at the wrist, "CLANG!" the chains shook with great ferocity as she lunged towards me, a smirk on her face, fangs gleaming out of each side of her lips.
"This cannot be her...where is my sister".
The soldier that sat in front of me looked at the other guard that had carried the girl in the cage before taking out their blades, long swords with the royal family crest labeled onto their pristine finely formed leather handle.I took out my twin daggers from my waist, moving my arms into a position of readiness, the one on the right took his plunge, and I deflected it with ease, his blade repulsing at the crease of my hand-crafted daggers. He stubbled back tripping over the golden handle behind him.
The girl in the cage howled with insurmountable glee. The guy on the left was more fluent with his blade, better, honed, and proficient.
I stepped back to the circle that stood in the middle of my palace floor, the blade shifted in my hand, my stance shifting from one outward hand to both hands being in the position to defend. "You can't beat me...not like this".
He lunged forward, and I dodged right, laying my right knee into the corresponding side of his ribcage, he grunted, his breaths now labored, I took the advantage, sweeping both his legs, tripping over his partner's blade, he clambered backward, fear in his eyes as I peered onto him with anger in mine.
"We'll be back! They proclaimed before running off out of the palace without the bruised and beaten capture they'd humbly left at my disposal.
I holstered my weapons, a smile on my face as I ordered somebody to release the prisoners and show her to her quarters, sister or not, I was determined to be a better friend to her this time around.
