"We could have done a two story thing... but..." Lucas starts. Axel looks over at him, and he interrupts himself. "-It's fine, I-its perfect."

A few seconds of silence go by before we all make our way into the hut. I don't know how much longer I could have stayed out there before getting frostbite, but I only forgot about the cold from the glares Jesse's stupid friend keeps giving me. Maybe more of a shifty eye, but that conversation back there is still fresh in my mind.

The fire crackled loudly in the distant cold night.

I take a spot in the corner since there's nowhere to really go.

I felt a chill breeze pass by, the fire warming up my face and fingers, giving me something else to focus on.

I didn't know you could feel so lonely in a room, er-- hut full of people.

[Petra POV]

"Oh man!" Axel says excitedly, breaking the silence.
We all stare at him.

"I'm gonna tell you something, but you have to promise not to freak out." He continues.

"Spill." Olivia says abruptly. Petra glances in Olivia's direction for a moment before glancing back at Axel.

"I have cookies." Axel says.

"One for me,..One for Olivia,... One for Petra,...and one for Jes-" he looks around like he just dropped a swear word. "..One for..Reuben..." He finishes.

Reuben makes a confused yet sympathetic oink at Axel, not fully understanding that Jesse has been in danger, simply noticing Axels sadness.

He stops mid-sentence . He stares into space for a second, then at Lukas.

"I only have four..sorry..." Axel mutters, not really attempting to make an effort to actually be empathetic, rather the opposite.

I notice Lukas's face as I hold the cookie and how he looks away. It's like he isn't even here mentally right now. He just stares at me as I get up and give him the cookie. He doesn't actually take hold of it. He's kinda of just staring at me with cloudy eyes. He looks exhausted.

"Petra, that was for you, not him." Axel says, finally noticing my gesture. I stare at him blankly.

"Especially not him." Axel says louder and more firmer. I glare at Axel, but he appears to have ignored it.

Lukas doesn't deny the cookie, though. He holds it in his hand and stares at it.

"Tch." Axel spouts. He crosses his arms and stares into space before appearing even more irritable. I guess I wouldn't understand how they felt. I barely knew Jesse in comparison to these two. It's not really my business on dissecting their feelings, we just need to get Jesse back, and fast.

Olivia looks at Lukas and then at me.
"Who would you rather fight, 100 chicken sized zombies or 10 zombie sized chickens?" She asks.

We all go silent for a second.

"Well, I'm definitely not choosing the chicken-sized zombies." I laugh, actually thinking about it for a moment and forgetting about all of it for a second.

Lukas chimes in after staring at me for a moment. "Huh.. Lemme think about that one." He says.

"How can you guys joke at a time like this?" Axel shoots. "Jesse is still out there. He could be dead. He's all alone, without us, or Reuben. Jesse.. there's nothing funny about that."

I straighten my posture a little and say "Jesse wouldn't mind. I think he'd like us to stay positive." Axel shoots me an unexpected glare.

"How would you know? He's our best friend, not yours." He stares for a moment, realizing that I'm right and then replies, "I don't know..it just. It feels wrong.", slumping over a little in defeat.

"I still can't believe Jesse's still out there." He says, seemingly talking to himself. I stare back in pity and lock eyes with Olivia for a second.

[Lukas POV]

"We gotta start looking for this temple as early as we can. Now what I'm thinking is that if we start at the portal and kinda split up--" Lukas begins before Axel cuts him off.

"Why are you talking?" Axel says. It catches me off-guard.

"Did I do something to you?" I reply, almost immediately regretting ever opening my mouth.

"Yeah, you did." Axel says, menacingly, slowly backing towards Lukas.

"Jesse is probably dead because of you. Do you really think you have any right to talk? You're the reason Jesse's probably dead." He says bluntly.

I stare at the ground for a moment, fiddling with my hands in a pocket. "Don't tell us what to do." Axel continues. I stare at Reuben in defeat, now an owner less pig. Ownerless because of me. He's right. I slump down on the ground.

"You're the only one with dirtbags as friends." He continues, almost abruptly.

"You can insult me, but dont insult my friends." I reply sternly.

"Or what? You'll get another one of us killed?" Axel replies without skipping a beat. I stare in shock and glumly stare at myself.

"Haven't you done enough damage for one day?" "Jesse might be dead because of you." He continued.

I stare back up at him, but I really have nothing to say. Hes totally right. I did probably kill his best friend. I can at least owe him the silenc-

Petra stands up suddenly. She walks up to Axel and puts both of her hands on axels shoulders. "We can't change what already happened. He's trying to help, alright?"

"Well maybe I dont want this Jerks help." Axel says.

"Leave. him. alone." Petra repeats. Despite Axel's build, she's a lot more intimidating and Axel backs off and sits down with his hands crossed. He stares into the fire, the silence rebuilding itself quickly.

"How about I just leave and you guys can go hash this out." I say, getting up. I give my uneaten cookie back to the nearest person, which happens to be Olivia as I walk towards the door of the hut.

"It's what Axel wants, right?" I say, already halfway out the door. I'm stopped by a hand firmly grasping my hand.
I look back to lock eyes with Petra.

"You're not going anywhere. I don't want to lose you too." She says with a hint of desperation and firmness. I stare at her hand and I tug.

"Let go

"Let go." I say, trying to sound tougher.

She doesn't budge though. I give her a glare before trying to pull towards the door again. I feel a firm tug and I'm suddenly off-balance. I grab my other hand to stabilize myself. I stare at Petra again. She doesn't seem like she's gonna let go anytime soon.

"Whatever." I mutter reluctantly, admittedly feeling sympathetic for Petra and her statement.

"I don't want to lose you too."

I need to stop pouting. We gotta save Jesse.

I've gotta save Jesse.

(Im so sorry for such a late part for like the 3rd time. I lowkey just lose motivation and idk how to rewrite it differently from the original when essentially the same thing happens and I just suck at writing tbh. Idk how to progress after and I wanted to start the next episode before publishing but I still haven't. Thanks sm for viewing! :D)
