Third Person POV
-So, a question I know we've all been asking ourselves, which is, who at S.H.I.E.L.D could launch a domestic missile strike?.- Sophia asked as she leaned back on Sam's kitchen counter, taking a bite of her toast with cream cheese that Sam had made for her.
As he spreaded cream cheese on another piece of toast, Sam silently wondered when his morning turned into a secret meeting with two fugitive Avengers talking about how they were almost killed in an old military base camp that ended up being one of S.H.I.E.L.D's first bases by S.H.I.E.L.D itself.
He hadn't said anything for the last 20 minutes and curiosity had been killing him, but he knew that maybe they were not ready to disclose something important (Avenger like important) and maybe even classified with a man they met just three days before, so he stood quiet, but still, closely listening.
At the end of the day, they had come to him for help, and if he could provide it, then he'll do it.
Steve, clean and fresh, who had already taken a shower in the 20 minute span before breakfast was actually ready, sat there silently, a hand on his chin as he thought.
As Sophia watched him closely and took him in, she confirmed her suspicions and thanked her small tiny wish had been heard.
Sam's shirt was a little tight on him.
God gives, God takes. And after everything he's been currently taking from her, he decided to give her a little with this small gesture.
-Pierce.- Steve said as he turned to look at Sophia who silently nodded.
She quietly made her way to stand beside him and crossed her arms over her chest. Steve turned to look at her. The necklace Tony gave him was still intact, the wings still shining in the golden pendant. The dog tags, nevertheless, were displayed outside her shirt, something she never did, which made him frown, but shrugging off the thought, he went back to their conversation.
-Who also happens to be sitting on top of the most secure building in the world as we speak.- Sophia said as she turned to look at Steve.
Casting a glance in Sam's direction, she saw him applying more cream cheese on an already cheesed toast and she smirked. She knew he was listening and she didn't mind. Neither Steve or her did, but she knew he was not saying anything because probably he didn't want to meddle.
-But he's not working alone..- Steve said as he looked out of the closed and covered window. He knew no one had followed them, but he did not want to risk Sam nor his home because of them. So he stood alert, ready to flee in case anything happened. -Zola's algorithm was on the Lemurian Star.- A Flashback came to Sophia as soon as Steve said those words.
Images from the day at the ship flashed on her mind and a face and name popped on her mind.
-So was Jasper Fucking Sitwell.- Sophia said as she turned to look at Steve with wide eyes. He turned to look at her, silently dissaproving of the choice of words, but also remembering how Sitwell had been the only officer to be on the ship.
He nodded, now connecting the dots in his mind.
-So, the real question is how do the two most wanted people in Washington kidnap a S.H.I.E.L.D officer in broad daylight?.- Steve asks and Sophia bites her lip in thought, an action that catches Steve's attention right away.
