23rd October 2014. 15:47. Avengers Tower. Manhattan, New York City. NY.
Third Person POV.
Things at the Tower had been surprisingly calm.
Key word: had.
Today, Sophia felt all the peace she had for the last couple of months slightly slip away from her and she was hating it. Too much.
Let me put you up to date.
An hour ago, Pierre had come to the Tower, on a formal visit. He had been coming frequently to supervise what was going on with S.H.I.E.L.D's remaining part and what was going on in general, but he rarely made an appearance over the closed quarters. He did, every now and then, but mostly he just said hi, stayed for a coffee or dinner and then left.
Today was the exception.
He called Tony to tell him he needed everyone gathered because he needed to disclose something important with all of them, so Tony arranged a meeting in one of the conference rooms in the leisure area. When Pierre arrived, everyone was already there sitting at the big large table. He went straight to the point.
*FLASHBACK TO AN HOUR AND A HALF BEFORE*
-The I.I.S.A has been trying to locate the remaining people that had been part of HYDRA or were at some point and went into hiding after their fall in Washington.- He said and laid out the seven folders on the table for everyone to read. -Recently, we caught some agents that had come out of being undercover or that had run away and when we captured one last week, he told us something.- He said. Everyone read the files and as her eyes ran over the paper, Sophia frowned, wanting to scream.
-Bases?.- Sophia said as she read the report. She felt Steve tense by her side, but her eyes never left Pierre's.
-Yes. He said that there are several bases around the world that are HYDRA and that probably still have a few people working in them. He didn't give the exact location, because apparently, they just know the one they are in, not the other ones.- Pierre explained and Natasha scoffed.
-So there is no way to beat the location out of this guy, huh?.- She scoffed and Pierre nodded.
-Believe me, we tried. But he says they never allowed them to know the location of other places for that exact reason. To avoid someone spilling their whereabouts.- Pierre explained and Steve sighed.
-So, there are still active HYDRA bases around, but we don't know where and we can't take them out.- Steve said and Pierre shook his head.
-Not exactly.- He said and by the tone in his voice, Sophia knew he had an idea. -HYDRA is not like every other organization. They are not like the ones we are used to that use a warehouse to plan their massive schemes as a base or headquarters. That's our advantage.- Pierre said and Clint looked at the man, confused.
-I'm sorry, but I'm not following.- He said and Pierre turned to him.
-HYDRA wouldn't use a normal place to hide its main quarters. At least not their main base.- Pierre said and Sophia nodded slowly.
-They were hiding at the Washington Bank back in D.C.- She said and Thor turned to look at her, also confused.
-I agree with Barton, I still don't understand.- He said and Sophia turned to him.
-HYDRA would have a small, provisional base that would be the most obvious place in the world, so obvious that you wouldn't even imagine they are there. If you saw an abandoned bank, that is the last place you'd think they were hiding in because it is way too obvious.- Sophia said, remarking the obviousness and the God of Thunder slowly nodded, following her words carefully.
