The midday sun painted the blue sky as I headed to the mall. Today would be Pinkie's party, and we still had time to get ready. I decided to go out with Rainbow and Fluttershy; the colorful one needed new strings for her guitar and knew a great store around here.

As soon as we entered the store, we were greeted by someone I didn't expect to see here—not that I'm unhappy to see him either. Flash appeared, his warm smile lighting up the room around me. I smiled back.

- Twilight! Great to see you here!

- Yes, it's great to run into you here,- I felt my face flush. What the heck was that?

Rainbow quickly saved me, - Hey, Flash?

Flash waved to her and to Fluttershy, who smiled shyly as usual. - Hi, girls. Looking for something specific?

- No, just the strings. I know where to find them,- Rainbow replied, walking away. For some reason, Fluttershy followed, leaving me standing in front of Flash.

- So... Have you been working here long?- I asked, breaking the ice.

- Not too long, I started three months ago. I like it a lot; I know more about guitars now than I ever thought I would.

- Hmm, you seem to enjoy it.

- Very much. Besides being incredibly nerdy about robotics,- he made me laugh lightly, - I'm also a music fan. I've been playing guitar since I was twelve.

I looked at him, impressed, - Really? It seems cool to know how to play something. The only thing I know how to do is whistle for my dog when he runs away.

We both laughed this time. He leaned on the counter, - Are you going to the party at Rarity's house today?

- I am, actually. I'm going to her place after this. She's responsible for the group's look. Applejack says she can even make a pig look fabulous.

- You don't need much to look like that.

Wait a minute, was that a compliment? I think it was. I looked at Flash with raised eyebrows, his face was red, his expression similar to mine.

- Got them. Shall we go?- Rainbow arrived, appearing next to me. She looked from me to Flash and back to me again, - Everything okay here?

- Of course it is!- my voice came out strangled, like a duck quacking, - Uh... Well, we better get going, Rarity doesn't like delays, right?

Rainbow shrugged, saying goodbye to Flash and leaving the store. Fluttershy and I also said our goodbyes, but she followed me with a worried look. Damn, I forgot that Fluttershy and Applejack already know I have a little crush on Flash after my little outburst in the bathroom. They've been watching me every time I talk to Flash or mention him in a conversation. I know they're worried; he has a girlfriend, and there's nothing I can do. But it's not my fault that my heart decided to like him! Besides, it's just a passing thing; soon enough, I won't even be thinking about him that way anymore.

The long-awaited night had finally arrived. Rarity and I were the last ones to get ready. Rarity insisted on curling each strand of my hair, which turned out very pretty. Since the theme was "Starry Night", Rarity made sure we were "Shining like stars'.

Descending the stairs, we saw the crowd that had formed in the living room, the pulsating sound of the music filling the air, and the lights flashing everywhere.
