Im now 12 weeks and this morning im going to the OB to find out the gender. "You're coming with me right guys?" I asked Christina and Mer. "Of course, but who alls coming?" Christina questioned. "Yeah are we all going to fit in there?" Mer laughed.
"Yes we will all fit! It's just you guys and Lexie, Mark and Alex are in surgery together right now" I laughed.
"Where is Lexie anyway?" Christina questioned. "Home, she was running late so she said she'd meet me there for my appointment" I explained.

"Are you ready to see your baby?" The OB asked. "Yes" I smiled. I watched as Lex, Mer, and Christina all pushed around each other to try and get a look.
"Did you want to know the gender?" She asked. "Yes, yes I do" I replied anxiously wanting to know. "It looks like you're having a little girl!" She revealed and my face lit up.
"Awww Char were having a girl" Lexie kissed my forehead. "We should go tell Mark and Alex!" I said jumping to sit up.

Mark paged me like he promised he would when the surgery was over so Lexie and I headed over to the lobby. "Hey!" He hugged me. "Hi! Did you want to know what it is?" I asked smiling. "Do I wanna know? Of course I do!" He pried. "It's a girl!" I announced. "She's going to be adorable" he beamed. "Especially if she looks like her mama" Lexie added.
All of a sudden there was a lot of yelling followed by gun shots. Mark pushed Lexie and I to that ground and shielded us with his body.
Once the shooter was out of sight we made a run for the elevator. Only to find Alex's bleeding body.

Mark and Lexie worked together to lift his body while I put pressure on the wound. "Alex" I cried seeing he was awake. We made it all the way to the conference room where we cut off his scrub top.
He had been shot in the chest and was losing a lot of blood. "I-I can't breathe" I stepped away sobbing. "Just still down Ci, Lexie and I have this" Mark instructed pulling up a chair.
"We need supplies" Lexie stated. "I can go get them" I offered. "No way josé you stay here" Mark instantly rejected my proposal. "But you guys need to keep him alive I can get it" I begged. "No Charlie I'm going to get it" Lexie cried.
"Please make it back safe Lex I need you" I hugged her. "I promise Charlie" She kissed me. Feeling her soft lips felt different thinking about how this could be the last time.
"Im okay Mark I can help now" I said standing up. "Come over and keep holding pressure for me" He requested.
"I got blood, IV kit, a monitor, and other basic things" Lexie threw the supplies on the table. "Char can you start his IV?" Lexie asked. "mhm" I grabbed the kit.
Once we put him on the monitor his vitals were already shit but they just kept plummeting. "Alex please" I cried. "Charlie?" He questioned. He's conscious?? "Wheres Izzie?" he struggled to get out.
"It's Charlie I'm here" I gathered myself tears streaming down my face "come on Alex i need you, your my bestfriend, you've been by me through everything."
"Ci you're bleeding" Mark noticed. "You sure it's not Alex's blood?" Lexie whispered to him. "Yes! I'm sure, charlie sit back down" he comanded. "No! He's going to do and No!" I sobbed. "Charlie sit" Lexie cried.
It was only about another 45 minutes before the swat team found the shooter. It came to my attention Lexie knew him. She was on his hit list. I rode with Alex to Seattle pres.

"Charlie you need to get checked out" Lexie urged. "But what about Alex I cried I'm stable he's not" I cried. "Charlie you're still bleeding you need to get the baby checked out" She rubbed my shoulder.
"Where's Mer?" I asked. "She should be coming over in the next ambulance" lex replied. "I want to wait for her" I sat down next to Alex's bed staring at his monitor. "Okay but then you're getting checked out no buts" She kissed the top of my head leaving the room.
"CHARLIE!" Mer ran over to me. "Mer i'm so scared" I sobbed. "Come here" She pulled me in and held me for a while.
"Ci they're ready for you" Lex said helping me up. "Wait what's going on?" Mer looked at me and I watched as Lexie whispered something to her.
"How is she?" Mark asked coming in. "We're about to start" the OB explained. "What about Char" He questioned. "Im fine Mark" I said trying to be calm. Meredith and Lexie held my hands the whole time while Mark just sat in silence.
"Charlotte I am so sorry but you are miscarrying we can take you to vacuum it out with in the next hour" the OB apologized.
I felt my heart shatter. I couldn't hold back anymore Meredith held me while I wailed into her arms. I felt so bad when I noticed the look on Marks face and Lexie sobbing as well.
"Can you come here too El?" I asked. "Of course Charlie" She wiped her eyes and got In the bed with us and I turned to face her.
"Please don't blame yourself Charlie I see the look on your face and I know how you feel right now but there is no one to blame but there is nobody at fault except for that horrible man who shot up the hospital. I love you so much sweetie" she wiped my tears with her thumbs but I still couldn't breathe and I couldn't make words come out.
The hospital got shot up. My baby is gone. Alex is in the ICU. and MARK, Mark is sobbing.
